My "Friend" Who Reported Me

I like field trips. I like going out. The world is my laboratory. That is my mindset.

Because of this, I encouraged my students to go out as well. Just like before, I did not require any off-campus activity but I definitely incentivized them. I even encouraged my students to suggest off-campus activities they can do with my approval.

Most of the off-campus activities I incentivized were 1) interviewing people, 2) visiting the buildings of the National Museum; 3) attending hearings in the Senate; 4) visiting wakes, during public viewing, of known personalities who died; and 5) visiting the resting places of heroes and known personalities from the days of Antonio Luna to the present.

The students enjoyed doing all of those. We were in the hunt for any update of any interesting activity from any person. The activity, though, must be something related to our subject. My students even went to the annual Ramon Magsaysay Awards' Night where celebrities and influential people attend.

I told all of these to my "friend."

This friend was a co-faculty from another department back in our college teaching days. For some reason, there are a few students who claimed that we resemble each other. This was contrary to what other students say because they find him cuter and more handsome than me.

I banked on this "resemblance" to introduce him to students as a "brother." I said we are brothers that's why we look like each other.

He did not talk me out of all the activities I did. If there was any attempt, it did not sound very urgent since he wanted to keep everything cool.

This was why he reported me to the Admin's Wife, who was now my boss.

The Admin's Wife was furious. She confronted me inside the faculty in front of my friend. I did not deny anything. I wondered why they had to tell me that they talked to around 10 students about this. I felt treated like a criminal and they had to talk to that much of students to find out whether or not I encouraged any off-campus activity.

The Admin's Wife consistently objected to any off-campus activity. Even if it was approved, she would still try to convince people not to pursue it. I remember one time we were in an approved trip. She was telling the students that if she was their mother, she would not allow them to go.

I found her very unreasonable when it came to this matter.

She said I committed a serious offense and that this deserves to be in my file. I said, "OK." I was ready to lose the job. But she did not.

I was already preparing for my defense. But since she never filed it, I also did not file my defense.

As to my friend, I started to feel like it was really hard to trust anyone. I felt treated like a bad guy. I promised myself this situation will change. It will not end like this.
