That day, 5:30 p.m.
Ace"Aye, you gotta keep drawing until you get the color!!!"
"No I don't!! We ain't been playing like that way the entire time, so don't be saying that now!!"
Mil and I were sitting down inside her home playing UNO. She had a nice slim brown-stone house that was two stories. These type of houses were usually real old, but the section that she was living in must of had to be renovated.
"Hm, it looks like I'm about to win again.." she says, having one card left. I didn't know what she had in her hand, so I just tried my luck, placing down what I had.
"Bam! Another dub!!!" she says, putting a wild card down. She gets up and celebrates, bragging about her win.
"How many wins is that? Like 4??"
"Girl, don't act l didn't whoop yo ass in Spades. That's the only reason why we played UNO—cause you couldn't take all that heat." I say, firing back at her.
"Whatever."
"Where you about go?"
"I'm going to check to see if the pictures are fully saved." she says, walking up the stairs. I didn't wanna say down here, so I followed behind her.
I sat down on a stool in there, watching do her thang on the computer. She said that this particular room was just dedicated to her taking her pictures in here and for editing. I could tell by all of the pictures that were in here on one side of the wall, along with the vibrant colors that were on the wall.
"So are they done saving?"
"Not yet. It's gonna take awhile...it's only at 45% now." she says.
" Oh. Does it usually take that long?"
"Hm, it just depends on when how many pictures I want to save..."
"Oh, ight."
"So what do you wanna do now?" she says, moving some things around. I shrug my shoulder and get up, looking at all the pictures that were in the room.
"These your people?"
"Yeah. Those are my two younger brothers right there, and next to my is my aunt."
"Is it the one whose house you're always at?"
"Yup. I remember that day...family cookouts were the best." she says smiling.
" Ah, these must your parents huh? They look all bougie and shit..."
"That's because they are...but I don't take any part with em'..." she says, surprising me. I thought she would've been on good terms with them.
"How come?"
"My parents never supported what I had in store for myself. My career goals never reached their expectations, and it use to really hurt me when they didn't have my back— but now, I don't care. They can think whatever they want."
"Do you ever visit them?"
" I do...but rarely. If it's not the holidays, then it's my auntie convincing me to go to a dinner every blue moon to help them keep their image up to par." she says, sitting down on the stool.
