*Present Day On The Waverider In The Medbay
"Oh my god, Sara," Ava said with tears in her eyes. They are starting to come out of mine again. I hate telling that story. I told Laurel after I told Kailyn, and now I am telling the woman I love after my daughter breaks her wrist. What a day for me. "I am so sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you to tell that story."
"It's fine. I was going to tell you one way or another and I am glad to have that off of my chest." Suddenly we both hear sniffles. The team. The security cameras. Ava and I look at each other and look to the cameras. "Legends get off the cameras now or so help me god-" I am interrupted by someone calling me by a name that only one person calls me by.
"Mom, it's fine. They were only trying to look out for you. What you always say- family first, right?" After Kailyn talks there are a bunch of oh nos on the coms. I then hear the coms shut off.
"Ya. You okay baby?" I ask. I am worried but so far she looks fine. Like she just woke up and was in pain but overall fine.
"I'm fine mom. I'm sorry for causing so much trouble. Especially so early in the morning. I really am sorry." Kailyn bows her head. I can tell she is really upset by this. The two of us have absolutely no secrets and we can't hide anything from each other. It's not just that we don't want to but that we can't.
"Hey, look at me. We are both terrible liars, okay? It takes one bad liar to know another so I know when you are fine and when you are not. I also know when you are upset. And don't be. You just helped me tell people who are family, blood or not, about something that was not easy to talk about, whether I wanted to tell everyone or not." I glance at the camera. "So thank you. you just helped me a lot, even though I would have preferred it if you ran onto the Waverider screaming about how much cake I ate. Because lets face it- that would of most likely happened with how much you yell at me for not saving you any cake. But you know, it's not my fault that your school thinks that it would be appropriate if they kept you all day. That is technically kidnapping. I think I might just file a kidnapping report on your teachers."
"What the heck Sara, really?" Ava asks me.
"Ya, really!" I respond. "School sucks!"
"Wow babe. Just wow."
"She's not though. My mom never saves me any cake when I get home from school. i would just ask her to bake one with me but between the two of us we would most likely burn down the building. And yes school sucks." Kailyn says.
I turn to Ava, "Ha!"
"Really? Burn down the building? How?" Ava asks.
"Aves, have you met me? Well, nice to meet you, I'm Sara, your badass girlfriend, and this is my daughter, my own flesh and blood. We can't cook. Next story Phil." I joke and shake Ava's hand. We all laugh.
"Oh and mom?" Kailyn asks.
"Ya sweetie?"
"Thanks."
"No problem. I only speak truth." We all laugh some more.
"Well hi, I'm Ava Sharpe. I'm glad I got to meet the daughter of Sara." Ava introduces. Kailyn sits up.
"Hi. I know who you are. My mom has told me everything about everyone and this ship. Including Gideon. And I'm Kailyn. Kailyn Laurel Lance. It's an honor to meet the woman who my mother fell in love with and makes her happy." And with that sentence we all smile.
"Thank you. You have a beautiful name. Your middle name, Laurel, is after your aunt, right?" Ava asks. This is going better than I could of imagined. They are getting along. They are getting along! They are getting a-freaking-long!
"Yes it is. Thank you."
"Hey Kailyn, do you want to go technically meet the rest of the team?" I ask. I hope it goes as well as Ava and Kailyn's meeting. I really hope so. You have no idea how much.
"Ya, I would love to."
"Then lead the way, Director Sharpe."
