We walk into the bridge, Ava, Kailyn, and I, and we see the whole team. I am holding Ava's hand and Kailyn is walking next to me. She looks at me and smiles. I smile back. "Alright Legends! First of all I am not allowing you access to the cameras until further notice. I hope I am making myself clear. Second of all, I have someone I would like you to meet." I gesture to Kailyn.
"Hi. I'm Kailyn, my mom has told me a lot about you all. It's nice to finally meet in person." Kailyn says with a small wave. Everyone smiles and waves back. Zari walks up to Kailyn.
"Nice to meet you, Kailyn. I'm Zari. You look a lot like your mother. You and Sara even have the same blue eyes. And you have a beautiful name." Zari likes her too. I'm glad.
"Thank you." Kailyn says with a smile. Ray comes up and says hi in his geeky voice.
"Hi Kailyn I'm Ray. I never knew Sara had a daughter. Do you mind if I ask your full name?"
"Hi, and ya that's fine. My full name is Kailyn Laurel Lance. Laurel after my aunt." Kailyn responds. Smiles all around. I can tell that the team is warming up to her. Nate smiles at Kailyn.
"Nate, nice to meet you. Wow. You and Sara have almost identical smiles. And similar color hair." I smile at that. Kailyn seems happy, which is making me happy, which is clearly radiating into the atmosphere.
"Hi Nate and thank you." Kailyn's smile gets even bigger.
"Her smile is more like her aunt Laurel's." I say, "Her hair color has some of Laurel's brown hair in it along with some of my blond." Everyone smiles some more.
"Mick. So your Captain's daughter, huh?" Oh god Mick. Don't ruin the moment. "Cool. You do look alike. I'm going to get a beer." Mick then walks away to his quarters I assume. I have absolutely no idea how he was so chill with that. How? What? I don't even know. Let's just be glad for a second that Mick didn't light anything on fire or blow up the ship.
"Um, okay. Thank you Mick." Kailyn responds. She is still smiling.
"So how is your wrist? Do you need me to look at anything?" Ray asks.
"It's doing better. And no I think I will be fine. But thank you though." Wow. They like her. And no one blew anything up. Wow. Surprising. I look at the clock. And it's only 10:45 in the morning!
"Sara, why are you looking at the clock?" Ava asks. "Is something wrong?" I start laughing. Kailyn joins in, suddenly knowing why I was looking at the clock. The team stares at us for five minutes before Zari asks why we are laughing.
"Do you want to or can I?" I ask my daughter, slowly calming down. She nods her head and says, "No, you can. God, I'm going to need popcorn for this."
"What? Why?" Nate asks. Now Kailyn and I are laughing uncontrollably.
"Oh god," Kailyn starts, "this is going to be good!"
"Anyway, I am just surprised that no one yelled at me or blew anything up yet. And it's only 10:51 am." I explain. Everyone laughs a little. "But in all seriousness I really thought you would all hate me." I continue sadly. Suddenly my shoes had become so interesting.
"Sara, we could never hate you. Yes, sometimes you can be a pain in my ass captain, but we all love you so much." Zari started, before looking at Kailyn, "And Auntie Z loves her niece, too!" After that comment Kailyn's smile lit up the room and her eyes started sparkling just a little more.
"Well 'Auntie Z', thank you." I said. "All of you. For not hating me." Ava slips her hand in mine. I look at her and we both smile.
"So, it's been real," Kailyn starts, taking off her brace and all the Legends look at her, "but I should probably go, get out of your hair because you have an anachronism in three...two...one" *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* "Bye."
"What?" Ray.
"How did you-" Zari.
"Holy crap!" Nate.
"First, no, Kailyn you are staying. Second, Legends, what the hell? Don't act so surprised. And third, Gideon!"
"Yes, Captain Lance?"
"Where is the anachronism?" I ask just as everyone, including Kailyn, is gathering around Gideon.
"I have no idea, captain." my AI replies.
"What do you mean you have no idea?!" I question angrily. "Zari is anything broken?"
Zari looks over everything. "Nope. Everything's in check." she answers.
I am about to ask what is going on but Ava beats me to it. "Then what is going on? Sara had this ever happened before, like when you were new to being a Legend or just before you met me?"
"Uh, no. This has never happened before. This is so weird." I reply.
"Um, no it's not." Everyone turns to look at where that small voice came from. Kailyn.
"What are you talking about?" Ray asks. Mick grunts to show he is paying attention.
I look Kailyn in the eyes and she looks at me back. "You know something. Is this related to how you knew that there was an anachronism?"
"Umm, yes? No? Maybe?" I look at her. "I have no idea. I just have this feeling that there is an anachronism on May 1872 where Ulysses Grant signs the Amnesty Act of 1872 into law restoring full civil rights to all but about 500 Confederate sympathizers in Colorado. Why I know this I have no idea. But now my brain hurts." Kailyn finishes, holding her head in her hands for all of three seconds.
"Well, I trust my daughter and if what my daughter says is true then we have an anachronism to go fix. Right?" I tell the Legends who all look very puzzled and start nodding, some looking at Kailyn, some at me.
"In that case," I start, "Gideon, plot a course! Let's go get our Amnesty Act on."
