This chapter is looong. Over 12,000 words. Lotta random storylines put into one chapter. Skips around a lot.
Hibiki is tired. Last night was a long late into the morning kind of night. She was spread thin. Many clone pairs ran around the city, saving civilians and whatever other trouble they could find. Last night was a busy night. Very busy and bursting with criminals. Plus before that, she had a dinner date with Fatgum where she was planning to break it off but couldn't bring herself to do it.
Then add on getting up early to teach martial arts. Then come up with the lesson plan for the next few days. She was getting home after dark, and Eri was hanging out with her while doing her homework.
But those aren't the only reasons she's tired.
She's been busy avoiding Aizawa. Ever since learning about their future together, she's been stressing about everything. She's realized her feelings, and they aren't for the person she's currently dating. Which makes her feel awful.
She's also been in some kind of pain. Like period cramps but without the cramps just pain in the exact place cramps would be. At first, she figured it was just her period, but her period came and went and the pain is still there. It's not a constant pain though, but it's usually there. She just wants to sleep it off all the time. She has an appointment with her doctor about it soon.
Again, Hibiki is tired and her head hurts. She had another date with Tashiro for lunch and still couldn't break it off. She doesn't want to hurt him, and it's stressing her out. She decided against patrol tonight to sleep instead. Tomorrow is Sunday, so she'll get to, hopefully, sleep in a bit. She's zoned out of hearing anything further than making sure Eri's behind her.
She walks right into her dorm with Eri happily following. She blinks at the puff of purple hair sitting on their couch. The boy stares at her with a subtle mix of emotions. Emotions that Hibiki is too tired to figure out. She pauses in the doorway with her hand still on the doorknob and scrunches her face in confusion.
"Uh, hi? Who are you?" She squints her eyes, trying to make her blurring vision focus. She takes in the eyebags and grey scarf on the kid. She cuts him off before he can voice anything. "Wait... Aizawa? Why is your hair purple and fluffy? You're also smaller... Did you get hit with a quirk?!"
The boy shakes his head. "No, Ai–"
Eri gets impatient and pushes her way around her mom to get into the room. Her eyes light up at the stranger. "Hitosan!"
"Hitosan?" Hibiki echoes confused as she watches Eri drop all her things to bolt straight toward him.
Eri jumps into his arms with a happy giggle. She buries her face in his stomach happily shuffling her head back and forth.
He gives a small smile as he holds her and pats her head. "Aizawa sensei's been training me. I'm Shinso Hitoshi from the general ed department."
She blinks. "That... would make sense... Oh yeah! You're the kid who made it to the final round at the sports festival. ...He never told me he was training you..."
"Hitosan, what're you doing here?" Eri asks, looking up at him.
"Aizawa sensei told me to wait here for a moment while he changes. We're heading out to patrol. I'm tagging along to see what it's like but not actually do anything."
Which means she can't pin Eri on Aizawa for tonight. This means she needs to make dinner and get Eri settled in bed before she can pass out.
She tiredly sighs. "Fun. Eri, let's go find something for dinner before cleaning up for bed."
