CHAPTER THREE:
LACROSSE PRACTICE•°• ✾ •°•
As if getting quizzed on the second day of school wasn't already annoying, she soon found out from her other teachers that she was being quizzed some more in the first week alone. Delta nearly wanted to roll her eyes when her history teacher said they were going to have a test before the week was even over but she simply exhaled slowly through her nose. Her brain was basically running with thoughts on how she was going to study for all those subjects. Maybe she and Eliza could study together for the classes they have together and quiz each other. Or maybe she could get her moms to quiz her before going to bed.
"You're gonna give yourself a headache one of these days," Eliza said as she walked beside Delta through the hallway.
"What do you mean?" the brunette asked.
"You overthink things too much. You also try to deal with things on your own without any help," Eliza answered and Delta sighed.
She wasn't entirely wrong. She did tend to overthink things and she did always try to take care of her problems on her own. Half of the time, it was about school but the other half was about something that her moms, Eliza and basically everybody couldn't possibly understand. To put it simply, Delta was different from everyone. And not the kind of "different" where she put ketchup on toast, but the kind of "different" that would have any rational person run for the hills and never look back. And to be quite honest, Delta didn't understand it either and that terrified her, to not understand herself and what made her different from everybody else.
"I have a history test and a bio tomorrow. The week isn't even over yet and I have to deal with all of this. It's like they want to drive me insane," Delta said and her best friend laughed.
"That's basically what school is. They dump so many assignments and tests on you to see how much and how long it would take for you to crack. It's pretty much a simulation of what the real world will be like when we graduate," Eliza said as she shrugged her shoulders and Delta chewed on the inside of her cheek. The real world was a cruel place and Delta didn't need to get a job to know that. She saw what the world was capable of and she was put in situations where she would rather not be alive to deal with it because it was too painful. "I know what you need!"
Eliza's voice broke her out of her thoughts and Delta turned her head to look at her as she closed her locker. "What are you talking about?" she questioned skeptically. "You're not gonna get me involved in one of your pranks on Kelsey, are you? 'Cause she already hates me for just existing."
