CHAPTER TWO:
LET IT SINK IN•°• ✾ •°•
The second day was always supposed to be easier than the first. But to Delta, it was just the same. She still had to do the quiz for her biology class and she was going over her notes while on her way to class. Her parents had to tell her to take a break and she started to wonder if she was taking this way too seriously. She heard plenty of other students who took Mrs. Finch's AP biology class complain about how intense her tests and quizzes were and she took that into account when she chose the course.
When Delta sat down, she read over her notes again and was too focused to notice a light skinned student with blue box braids taking the seat next to her.
"Alright! Phones away, notes in your bag, nothing but a pencil and an eraser in front of you," Mrs. Finch said and Delta sighed lightly.
She put everything away and repeated her notes to herself in her head as her teacher placed the two page quiz face down in front of her. As soon as the class was told to begin, she flipped the quiz over and wrote her name and the date in the top right corner. She read over the questions and started circling the answers for the multiple choice section of the quiz. On the last page, there were two long answer questions and one of them required them to draw a diagram with labels. Those other students weren't kidding about the intensity of her evaluations. Delta exhaled slowly as she wrote her answers and drew the diagram and barely had enough time to check her work before Mrs. Finch declared that time was up. She started collecting the quizzes and there were a few students who were trying to quickly finish their answers. Delta bit the inside of her cheek as Mrs. Finch placed all the quizzes in a pile on her desk. Now that that part was over, it was time to start the real lesson.
Delta never thought about the possibility that the course would be harder than she anticipated and it was only the second day. If Mrs. Finch could drop a quiz on the students on the second day of school, then what else was in store for the semester?
When class was over, Delta packed her stuff and left the room to head for her next class. While she was on her way, someone yelled her name from down the hallway. She turned around and saw a familiar face that belonged to someone she actually got along with. Eliza hurried to catch up to Delta and wrapped her arm around her shoulder with an excited smile.
"Now that I am back in town, we should do something with just the two of us," Eliza said as they both walked down the hallway together.
"It might be our only chance before our lives are dominated by midterms, final assessments and applying to colleges and universities," Delta said with a crooked smile.
"Also, please tell me we're in the same AP chemistry class," Eliza said with a little pout that only made Delta giggle as she pulled out her timetable to check which class she had next.
