The Urban Princesses: Ariel

Chapter 12

I was dabbing a washcloth on my face to wash off the dry blood. I told Seemal, Aly, and my dad the whole story. But I left out the part about me and Eric being together. Dad was angry at first, but eventually got over it because I came back.

"Ariel! Places!" Seemal said to me in a yell/whisper.

I quickly walked out onstage and took my place. This time we were singing "Somebody to Love" by Queen. The a Capella started and the lights came up. I smiled. I had butterflies in my stomach. Jackie and Damian started singing. I blanked on when to come in then remembered. I turned my head and saw Eric giving me a thumbs up from backstage. I felt more confident.

Will and I stepped up and sang our part. He was excited when he saw me. I don't think he was very happy when he heard he was supposed to sing a duet with Vanessa.

Again, the words came out of me so easy. The rest of the song was a breeze.

Towards the end, Will slipped me a piece of paper and held my hand. Not again.

He pulled me closer every note. The song ended and he kissed me. He dipped me and kept kissing me. I tried to pull away but he held on. The kiss lasted a full ten seconds, the crowd was cheering softer when we weren't even halfway through.

We stood up, bowed and exited.

Now I was done with him.

"You shouldn't have done that!" I screamed.

"Read the paper." He said calmly.

I opened my hand and uncrumpled the paper. It said 'I have to do this. The other teams were so much better. We would've lost. I gave you your warning'

I slapped him. He was shocked.

"I really thought you changed."

Anger was rising up inside me. My cheeks were hot.

Eric obviously saw me slap him. He walked over.

"Is there a problem?"

"Oh my god. You're Eric Jacobsen! You are my idol!"

"You shouldn't have done that up there."

Will's smile disappeared. He looked from me to Eric. I saw the anger in his face.

"It's you! You're taking her from me! She is supposed to be mine! And now, you are going to pay!"

Then, he punched Eric straight in the face.
