She heard a rushing in her ears. "That's impossible." She snapped. "I don't have a brother."
"I know it sounds impossible, but let me explain." Thalia said. ""Leo didn't know about you because your mother dyed in the fire before she could tell anyone."
Jane got up and stumbled to the tent entrance. This is impossible, she thought. I don't have a brother, I can't have a brother.
"A few years ago. Thalia said, there was a prophecy of 7 demigods, one of them was your brother. The other 6 was all his best friends. They went on a quest to stop the earth mother gaea from rising. There are two camp they didn't know about each other in tell Hera stole the memories of one roman demigod and one Greek demigod and placed them in different camps. When gaea arose the 7 stoped Octavian the corrupted leader of the Roman camp and brought them both together. When The earth mother rose Leo flew up on is bronze dragon and saved to hole world by self destruction him and his bronze dragon. Everyone though he was dead but he was really on a island called Ogygia. Because he had promised his one true love he would come back for her on ogygia because the gods cursed her there for eternity."
Janes mouth hung open in shock. "So so I really do have a brother? Where is he. Is he here in los Vegas?"
Thalia grimaced. "I can't tell you where he is. You have to find your own way. All I can say is he is in California."
"Ok, well can you at least point me in the right direction?"
"We will give you some provisions for the journey but you have to make your own path." Thalia said.
Jane was about to protest but stoped short when she saw Thalia's intense face.
"Ok." She said reluctantly.
Naomi helped her get some stuff together which included a dagger made from material called celestial bronze, a bunch of fruit wrapped in a cloth and a strange silver handkerchief.
Jane said. "What am I supposed to use that for? stop my bleeding when I get slashed by a monster?
Naomi smirked. "No, I'll show you how it works. So if you lay it flat on the ground it will turn into a tent. And if you want to put anything in it as long as it not too big. Then you can close it and it will be a handkerchief again. Cool right!"
"Wow thanks," Jane said staring at the tent trying to figure out how it worked
Thalia walked out the tent and said. "Ok let's get you on your way."
Jane walked down the streets of Las Vegas. She jumped at the slightest sound. After the hunters of Artemis had explained that monsters could smell demigods like her, she had been constantly alert. As the sun started to set, Jane slipped into an alley way and lay down the handkerchief. Immediately, it sprang up into a silver tent. Jane still couldn't figure out how it worked but she shrugged and entered. She flopped down on a stack of blankets and closed her eyes. Thalia's words kept echoing in her head. Because, he's your brother...your brother...your brother. Jane pressed a pillow to her ear trying to block out the voice. She still couldn't believe she had a brother. All those years spent in foster homes could have been avoided. She sighed and rolled over telling herself to shut up. She stared at the oil lamp sitting on the table. Leo was a son of Hephaestus and he could control fire. She was a daughter of Hephaestus...Slowly, Jane sat up. She thought back to when the monster in the waffle hut had attacked her. She remembered feeling her fingers tingle then seeing bright flashes of yellow and orange. She walked over to the table and sat down, holding up her hand. She focused and a tiny ball of flame burst into her palm. Jane yelped and leaped back. Her heart was racing and her breath was shallow. This explained so much about her childhood. She remembered when she was five and the oven had caught on fire but she hadn't even been singed. Then again when she was eight and she fell in a fire pit but climbed out uninjured. Jane spent the next couple of  hours figuring out how to control the fire. Finally, exhausted and sweaty, Jane sank down onto some pillows. A smile played across her face as she tried to imagine what her life would have been like if Leo had been at her side.
