She spun around looking past the tall grass to the the edge of the field she saw a girl running from weed demons. She has encountered them when they had attacked the pegasus in that that very same field. She raised foreword not really sure what she was planning to do. She rushed forward She started slashing not aiming for anything in particular. She grabbed the girls wrist and head toward pascerio who was flapping his wings in agitation. she leaped on to his back, dragging the girl with her. Once they were both securely on, pascerio whinnied and spread his wings. He leaped into the sky, lashing his hooves at a cereal demon beneath him. As they rose into the sky, Rey felt a sharp pain in her thigh, she glanced down to see one of the wheat ladies clinging on to her. She screamed and kicked her bolt hitting the monster in the head. apron impact, It immediately crumpled to the ground. Rey slumped over pascerios neck and tried to focus her gaze on the horizon and not her aching leg. Against her will she slipped into unconsciousness. She went into a dream. There was a boy around her age with sandy blonde hair and light gray eyes Standing with a older man who looked old enough to been his father. He was holding a glass jar And threw it at the boy. he dodged it and watched as it shattered on the wall and littered the floor with broken shards of glass. The man grunted in anger and grabbed a nearby empty beer bottle."com' 'ear boy." The man grunted in a drunken accent. They boy backed up tell he reached the wall. He crouched down trying to cover his head. The man began to beat him, kicking his stomach and arms. Finally, he raised the bottle high above his head and brought it down with a sickening crash on the boys head. She watched as the Boy slumped to the floor. The man grunted in satisfaction and slumped onto a recliner. Rey wanted to go check if he was ok, but the scene around her started to fade and she was brought back to the real world. The girl that she saved was leaning over her trying to force feed her some weird looking people pastry. Rey didn't know where they where. She glanced around at the tall trees surrounding her. Rey was pretty sure that when she had went unconscious, she had been flying and not in a forest. Fear gripped her heart as looked around for Pascerio. She sighed a breath of relief as she saw him grazing in the corner of the clearing. Satisfied that he wasn't in immediate danger, she turned to the girl she had rescued. The girl must have caught her staring because she looked up from where she was looking through her bag.
"Oh, I'm Jane." She said as she continued to riffle through her things.
"Uhm, I'm Rey."
"Oh, I know who you are."
"Y-you do? How?"
"Leo told me," Jane said as if that explained everything. Finally, Jane pulled something silver out of her bag and spread it out on the ground. It immediately sprang into a tent. Rey scrambled back but winced when pain from her leg flared up. Jane rushed over to her. "Careful," she exclaimed pressing a nearby cloth to the gashes. "We don't want to open the wound any farther. Rey looked at her in confusion, "why are you helping me?" She questioned. Jane sat back and looked at her. "First reason, you saved my life. Second, your a demigod just like me."
"A-a what?"
"Oh right! Of course you don't know what a demigod is, I didn't know myself until a few days ago." Jane began to ramble about Greek gods, hunters with silver arrows, and a long lost brother. Rey didn't understand half of it so she just sat there looking confused. At some point between explaining about a flying boat and a evil earth mom, Jane stopped seeming to understand she wasn't making sense. In a slow voice as if she was talking to a five year old, Jane said "basically, the Greek gods and goddesses are real and we are their children...well their half children. My dads Hephaestus, the god of the forge and fire. My mom was a mortal person who he fell in love with. One of your parents is a god or goddess but we just don't know who yet."
"W-what?" Rey spluttered trying to process the information. The craziest part was she didn't even doubt it. Over the past few weeks, she had been through so much that nothing shocked her anymore.
"Well you seem to be taking this well," Jane laughed. "My brother who is also a half blood, which is what we are called by the way, got a dream about you and sent me to find you."
"Ok so let me get this straight, I'm half god and you are too?"
"Yep, I know it's kind of crazy. I wish I could explain more right now but we should really get inside, it looks like it's going to rain." Jane helped Rey to her feet and pulled her over to the entrance of the strange silver tent. Rey stopped short not trusting it. Jane seemed to understand her thoughts. "Don't worry, it's safe. I got it from the hunters of Artemis." She reassured her while guiding Rey into the tent. The inside was incredibly spacious with a low table and piles of blankets and pillows around. Jane walked over to the table and started cutting up a peach. Rey took a step forward and stumbled to the ground when pain shot up her leg from the claw wounds. Jane came over cursing under her breath. "I'm so stupid, I should have out bandages on it, I must have forgotten in all the excitement of finding another demigod." She started bringing out more strange pastries, cloths, and bandages. Rey wanted to look at her leg, but Jane stopped her by saying "I wouldn't look at it if I were you." To keep Rey's mind off of the pain, Jane told her about her long lost brother and the camp that they needed to find. Even After she had explained everything, Rey's leg still Wasn't completely healed. Jane cursed and looked Rey in the eyes. "This is gonna hurt, a lot." Jane warned. Rey looked concerned. "Why?" She asked. "Because, there are a lot of...well large splinter thingies in your leg and I need to pull them out." Rey groaned and gripped the edge of the Pillow. "Ok, do it." Rey cried out in pain and slumped down onto the pillows. Her vision faded and she passed out. When she woke up, her leg was wrapped in bandages and Jane was taking a cloth full of bloody shards of wood out of the tent. When she returned, she walked over to Rey and crouched down.
"How are you feeling?" She asked
"I'm fine," Rey lied.
"Ok, well I think you should get some sleep. I'll take the first watch." Jane said exiting the tent. Rey rolled over and stared at the silver cloth of the tent. She tried process the information Jane had told her. Camp half blood was on Long Island and Rey's guess was they were someone in Virginia. She was in the middle of calculating the distance when she fell into a deep sleep.
