The duo decided to wait until the Windhams were over, as they let the boys have more freedom. But, Donald never left the houseboat without them anymore. In fact, when they had left the boat to do some shopping, the Windhams' houseboat was nowhere to be seen. Louie asked about it, and Donald explained that the Windhams had moved away.

Thus, that plan failed. Instead, Huey and Dewey had Louie distract Donald and lead him away from the boat while the search was going on.

After they had left, Huey and Dewey searched through Donald's room. Dewey tapped every wall, looking for a secret passageway. There were none, though.

Huey hadn't done any better; he looked through records, but only found the crystal box again. He opened it, and looked at the beautiful earrings inside.

"What's that?" Dewey asked, pointing to the note attached to the inside of the box's top half.

"It says 'Della, I'm so sorry about Emmett, but maybe it's for the best.'  Della's our mom. But, who's Emmett?"

"Should we look it up?"

Huey nodded and made his way to Donald's computer. He simply typed up the name Emmett and found that the top result was Emmett Emery Duck: The Story of a Truly Bad Man. The duo read a bit of the article, and found the truth.

Emmett had been their dad. He had never been an animator, but a thief and murderer. Unfortunately, there was no information on Della; it only said she had married Emmett and had triplets.

The duo looked up Della Duck and found absolutely nothing, except for a message on the screen reading Oops! Looks like this person doesn't exist, or we're being paid to keep our mouths shut so we don't die! Try searching for something else.

"She doesn't exist?" Dewey asked, confused.

"Or someone doesn't want anyone else looking for her. Maybe..."

"She's a spy!"

"No...well, maybe, actually. It's not impossible."

"Yes, I'm right!"

"You might not be right, but who knows? We can't use the internet to find her, but we can search for her--"

"Boys, in here, now!"

The duo slowly made their way into the living room. Donald's face was red with rage, and Louie was hiding behind him.

"Why were you in my room?" he asked.

"We wanted to find out about Mom and Dad," Dewey said, keeping his head down.

"We found out Dad's dead and he was a bad man, but nothing else," Huey said.

"You guys need to stop doing that. And Huey, you should know better, set a good example for your little brothers, please."

"We're sorry," the triplets said in unison.

"You're all grounded, go to your rooms now."

The boys went to their room with very sad looks on their faces. Donald could even swear he saw tears from one of them.

If only Della were here. Parenting is too much for me.
