"Adrien, time to get up." he heard a firm voice call out to him. When he got up to find who the voice belonged to, he was assured to find out it was only Nathalie. He nodded his head whilst began to rub his eyes.

One day. One day since his father broke the news to him. One day since panick and fear began to grow inside of him and eat apon his flesh, and one day since he'd seen his mom.

Yesterday morning, he was surprised to find his father sitting across from him and eating at his breakfast. "Where's mom?" Asked the blonde. "Adrien, we need to talk. It's about your mother."

And that's when his heart stopped. Surely it can't be anything bad, right? But his heart sank after the words passed through his fathers mouth. "You're mother is in the hospital, Adrien."
Adrien had no idea what to say. I mean, what was he supposed to say? So he felt the color and life drain from his body, right then and there. His heart felt as if it stopped beating completely. His hands became sweaty, yet his body was so stiff.

Despite what was going on throughout his body, he let the words come from his lips. "What for?"
"There was an accident last night. Shes being looked at right now by professionals, Adrien. We shouldn't worry too much." Gabriel let out the only information he had at the time. "I promise I'll keep you updated"

And that was that. He hasn't heard anything from his father since. But deep down, Adrien knew he didn't want to. He was scared. Scared of the unknown. So when he finally got dressed, he was slightly happy to see his father missing from his usual dining spot. But though it's not like he wanted his father there at the moment, he felt it was right to ask anyway.

"Do you know where my father is?" Asked Adrien. "He just needs some time, Adrien. But don't worry. He's fine." Nathalie tried to be reassuring. But those weren't the words he wanted to hear. He didn't want to know anything else about his mom for the time being, no. But if he were to want to know anything about her, he wanted it to be good news. "She just needs some time, Adrien. But don't worry. She's fine." He'd rather hear.

"You should start on your breakfast before it gets cold" suggested Nathalie. Adrien nodded and got seated. He hadn't eaten alone in a long time, so he felt nothing but loneliness sitting at the dining table. "Adrien, are you okay?" Nathalie noticed the obvious gloomy expression on his face. "I'm fine" mumbled Adrien.

"Adrien!" Marinette ran up to him as soon as she saw him enter the building. "How are you feeling?" Was the first thing she asked. He shrugged his shoulders and continued walking. "Adrien, I know you don't want to open up but you know you can tell me anything, right?" She pleaded just to get something out of him. "Please Adrien"

"Fine, I'll tell you" said Adrien. Marinettes face glew up with joy, as her best friend was finally letting her help him. "I've just been having a rough past couple of days, that's all." He partially lied. "Adrien, I know you better than anyone else. That also means I can tell when you're lying." "I'm not lying, it's the truth. I'm sorry I haven't been myself lately"

"Are you sure?" "Yeah, I promise."

But Adrien knew damn well that it was all a lie. Still, he didnt want to think or speak about what was actually happening. Lying was his only choice, and he wouldn't hear the end of it if he simply sat there and said nothing. "Will visiting that one café you always liked help?" Marinette tried looking in his eyes as they continued walking. "I'm busy today, sorry." More and more lies slipped from his mouth. It's not like he wanted to lie, no. But he couldn't bring himself to tell her.

"But you never have time to do anything anymore!" complained the bluebell eyed girl. But "sorry" was the only thing he could bring himself to say.

By now, they had approached class. But Adrien felt a tug on his collar that prevented him from going to class. "Hm?" Adrien was confused as to why she was holding him back. "Thank you for being honest with me"

Are.

You.

Serious.

Guilt crept over Adrien to the point where any attempt at looking at her at all backfired only ended up making him more uncomfortable. He still refused to look in her eyes especially. "I know its hard to open up sometimes. So don't let a couple of bad days bring you down, okay? You're better than that Adrien." His palms drenched in sweat, eyes looking for anywhere else to look but her.

"You're welcome," he nearly choked on his words. Marinette nodded and bent her lips into a small smile before skipping off to class. He knew he was terrible for doing it, yes. But he also knew that it was the only way to get out of that situation.

After the period had finished, Adrien didn't hesitate to exit the school and sit on the steps leading in and out of the building entrance. There were other kids there too, yes. Each student gets a period of break before heading off to their next class. It was different each day, and different for each class. But it just happened so that today, their period of break was given after first period which was exactly what Adrien needed.

So when Adrien took a moment to reflect on the early May breeze, it felt like his worry's had blown away. For once, he wasn't flooded with fear but instead calmness. All he needed was a moment, just one. He could sit there for hours honestly.

Hours upon hours, in the April breeze.
