Adrien slumped into his so called home, and made his way to his room. "How was your day Adrien?" He was shocked to hear Nathalie call behind him. "It was okay" he truthfully explained. "That's good"
"But actually, do you mind coming down here for a second?" Adrien almost heard a crack in her voice. "Sure?" he questionably answered. "We need to have a talk, Adrien. I didn't want to be the one to tell you this, but sadly your father is.... he's not ready."
"We've gotten an update from the hospital about your mom" Natalie sat down beside him. "And..?" "She's been showing symptoms for a long time Adrien, and...."
"She has stage 4 leukaemia,"
He felt the pain in his chest after it ached from hearing the words. He couldn't believe it. He was already stressed enough from his mom simply being in the hospital, but this? This broke him completely. Words could not describe the pain in his chest. His world turned silent and his mouth became sewed.
"She.... she doesn't have a very high chance of living. Adrien, I'm so sorry.. we waited too long," she tried to be as comforting as she possibly could. But when she walked away, he didn't move. He sat there at the empty dining table Adrien agreed to talk to Nathalie at. He didn't cry, either. His body was already lifeless but now not even a soul bothered to linger inside him.

It was no surprise when Nathalie informed me if I wanted I could stay away from school for a bit. They knew I needed a break from the world for a couple days. When people such as Marinette called to question where I was, I ignored each and every one. I didn't want to be questioned on what happened. All I wanted to do was hide under a rock until my mom could come out of the hospital and hug me again. But when I walked up to her hospital room, I couldn't stop the tears that flooded my eyes. There she lied in her hospital bed, cords attached from her body in every which way. When I approached her, she didn't notice until I sat down in a nearby chair. She had flowers and cards resting on nightstands next to her, also including some presents and "get well soon" teddy's.
"Looks like I'm not your first visitor," I chuckled. She smiled and laughed with me. "I'm sorry you have to see me this way, Adrien," the joy in her eyes soon turned to sadness. "Please don't apologize," was all I could say. "I heard your staying away from school for a bit. How long was it again?" "Just a week. But I already go back in 4 days." "I'm so sorry Adrien. I never wanted it this way" she couldn't stop apologizing. The tears that sat on the edges of my eyes soon came to fall after I said "me neither".
"Nobody wanted it this way" she explained. "Promise you'll be strong for me, okay?" I nodded. "Don't forget to bring me a mother's day gift either!" she laughed, and I laughed with her. "How could I ever forget?" and suddenly it felt like everything was normal again, but it wasn't.
"Something wrong Adrien?" "Oh sorry it's nothing,"

The two chuckled and conversated in which felt like forever, but eventually Adrien had to be escorted home back to his dead lifeless house. If he could, he'd stay there all night. "It's so lonely without you here" he recalled his mother telling him. If only she were back home, cheerful and not strapped to a hospital bed. It'd make things so much easier.
Was he ready to go back to school? No. Did seeing his mother every day from that point on make him feel any better? It made things worse yet made them so much better at the same time, he didn't know what to think. But when April 20th approached, he didn't have much of a choice but to attend the common building for an education. The school year ended in June, which meant the school year would finish in about a month now.
But his thoughts were interrupted when he felt an angry Marinette shove him aside as she walked angrily past him. 'What's up with her' he confusingly watched as she stormed off further and further down the concrete floor. Class was no different either. She had the same pissed off expression on her face, and every time Adrien looked at her she glared before turning away.
"Marinette-" this time he grabbed a hold of her shoulder before she could storm out of class after the bell rang. "What's up with you today you seem-" "What's up with me today? Oh I don't know. I recently found out someone who I thought was my best friend lied to me as he promised he never would. I thought he could trust me but I guess I'm untrustworthy. Don't fucking touch me, Agreste. I hope your mom gets better."
Was all she said before she yanked her shoulder from his grip and stormed off.'I messed up I messed up I messed up I messed up'
Her ignorance and rude stares continued throughout the day. What was he supposed to say? Everytime he tried to communicate, she shoved him away and walked off.
"Adrien, I heard about what you did to Marinette. Do you know how uncool that was? She spent hours crying in the school bathrooms while you were gone over how betrayed she felt. Are you proud of yourself?" Alya stared him dead in the eye. "Who said I'm proud." "Good. You shouldn't be."
Adrien went home that day realizing what a terrible person he was to Marinette. When he saw his mom again, he'd promise to tell her about it. They were supposed to trust eachother with everything. And he betrayed that trust.
