I got a good look at the man. He had midnight hair and whitish skin. He was dressed like a noble, but not many would be out this late, especially in the forest.

He was very handsome, but had a certain darkness about it.

I saw his blue eyes gleam red in the moonlight and it hit me.

"You're a demon! Get away from me. I am a priestess of the sun and demand you let me go." He laughed and put his face very close to mine. "Or else?"

"Or else, I'll use my powers to send you to oblivion." I quickly thought.

"Now, now, you know it's a sin to lie." He smirked.

"What lie?" He caught my bluff.

"Priestess powers? Really?"

"What do you mean?" I act surprised.

"What's your power? Priestesses don't have any power outside of healing."

"Please just leave me alone." I begged.

"Must I? I'm enjoying this." Enjoying? What kind of sick creature was this?

"I must get back to my sisters. They will be looking for me." I told him confidently.

"You are brave. But you think me ignorant of your position."

I felt embarrassment take seed in my stomach.

"You are lost in the forest late at night. I would take it that your sisters don't even know you and the other are gone."

"How do you know there is another?" Terror replaced the embarrassment.

He just looked at me.

I looked down at my bare feet. My nightdress and cloak didn't cover them.

I looked back up to the man, but he was no longer there.

Foolish of me to look away for even a moment.

I felt cool breath on my neck. I took a sharp intake of air.

"Get away from me you foul creature."

"Now that's not very nice." He whispered seductively in my ear.

He then gracefully swung in front of me lifting my hand, like a gentleman, though I knew he wasn't one.

"I am Gavriel, by the way." He told me and kissed my hand.

"I need to find Giselle." I announced firmly.

"Pity." He countered and walked off into the trees.

What was that all about? I hurried and ran back to the house before he changed his mind.

I rushed through the threshold. Th high priestess was sitting at the table.

She stood up and asked, "Where were you? And where is Giselle?"

I told her the story of me and Giselle running into the forest, but left out much of the encounter with Gavriel.

"I found a demon in the forest." I had said.

"What did it look like?"

"Pale, handsome, and cold"

She looked at the ceiling thoughtfully.

"I think I know what he is. Were his eyes red?"

"For a moment, they appeared so. What do you think he was priestess?"

"Where do you think Giselle is?"

"Probably lost. I wanted to keep searching, but I only just got away from the demon."

"Yes, I understand. We will look for her tomorrow. It's not safe out tonight. For now, get some sleep."

"But if it's not safe we need to fi-"

"Goodnight."

I slowly nodded at this, and went up to bed.

A few days later, we still had not found Giselle and the high priestess summoned me to her sanctuary. She handed me one of her books and I read a few of the descriptions of the demon depicted.

"This seems right." I told her.

She nodded and turned to the previous page.

"Vampire?"

The priestess nodded and put the book back on the desk.

"We must warn the town council." She disclosed.

I nodded, and we went out to the town hall to talk to the council.

The priestess ordered me to wait outside while she told them about the vampire, and I was to come in once she called me.

I leaned up against the wall of the town hall and gazed at the cloudy sky.

I loved this kind of weather.

I heard thunder clap, and could smell the lovely scent of rain.

A hand covered my mouth and I was taken into the forest. Terror surged through me and I tried to bite the hand.

I knew it was the vampire, and now that I knew what he was, I was much more afraid of angering him.

There are worse things than death.

He dragged me deep into the forest and shoved me up against a tree.

"Why did you tell them about me?" He growled.

"What did you expect? I'm not going to let you go kill people."

"I only take what I need. Now there will be hunts and wards."

"Good. You're a foul demon."

"Oh? You think I chose this? It's a curse."

"Let me go."

"I'm not going to make that mistake again."

Fear hit me and I started to plan out my best route to escape.

A look of sly resolve consumed his handsome face.

"You will learn what it's like to live like this. You will suffer for eternity as I will."

I desperately tried to get away, but his firm grip held me in place.

"Please. Please don't do this."

"Don't worry too much, I'm was turned by Dracula himself. You'll be a very powerful vampire, as I am." He reassured, came in front of me, and held my arms above my head against the tree.

"Just kill me." I spat in his face.

"I will."

Gavriel put his head close to my neck and I whimpered in fearful anticipation.

All my resolve vanished. I would rather have died.

He put his mouth to my neck and kissed it.

I lifted my leg and kneed him in the stomach. He hardly reacted except for raising his head.

"That wasn't very nice." He reprimanded.

"Oh, I'm sorry." I mocked. "And you are?"

"Of course. I'm letting you enjoy this." He drawled.

"You are a sick creature." I muttered.

"I do try."
