The school seemed empty. And that was unusual, as Hogwarts is a massive castle. Lana made her way over to the Courtyard, where she found a mass of students all crowded around something. She saw Penny and walked over to her friend.

"What's going on, Penny?" Lana asked.

"I'm not sure, but whatever it is, it's drawn a crowd..." she replied.

"Let's ask around and see if anyone can fill us in." Lana decided.

The girls went round the crowd and asked what was going on. Not many people actually knew, there were just there for the drama. All they found out was that it involved Ismelda and Emily...

"Apparently, Ismelda bumped into Emily Tyler, that popular Gryffindor." Penny said.

"Emily Tyler? You mean the one who broke Bill's heart?" Lana asked for clarification.

"When Ismelda didn't apologise, Emily thought it a fitting punishment to snatch Ismelda's diary and read it aloud."

"I don't know what Bill ever saw in her..." Lana muttered.

They moved closer to the scene, and heard Emily's shrill voice.

"What's this? Don't tell me it's a love letter!" she taunted, laughing as she read through the diary.

"If you read one more word, I swear...!" Ismelda exclaimed, looking like she was about to explode.

"'I watch you from afar, wishing for the day you finally look my way. For your eyes are a forest I'd willingly lose myself in, your smile a beacon of light in the darkness...'" Emily read.

Lana knew instantly who Ismelda had written about. Gorgeous green eyes? Charming smile? Barnaby.

"'I've yearned to tell you how I really feel, to stop hiding behind my poisoned tongue. Because I love you, Barnaby!'" Emily finished reading the poem, bursting out with hideous laughter.

Everyone watched as Ismelda's face turned a deep red, her features contorted in an angry frown.
Lana could tell that Ismelda was beyond embarrassed, and she felt terrible for the poor girl.

"Ismelda has a crush on Barnaby?!" Lana whisper shouted, "I guess we were right then..."

"I thought the way she teased him was suspicious..." Penny added.

"This is undoubtedly the most pathetic thing I've ever read! I'm almost embarrassed for you!" Emily continued to be the bitch she was, taunting Ismelda even more, "It didn't even rhyme! Aren't the weird ones supposed to be at least 'creative'? Honestly, you should be thanking me. You'd make a fool of yourself if you actually gave this to him."

Lana thought the worst was over, but Emily didn't stop there.

"I mean, just look at you. A greasy-haired, spotty-faced toad who smells like she never bathes? Who could possibly be interested in you?"

Emily earned a few laughs from the crowd of people, which kept getting larger by the minute.

"I can't watch this any more. What should we do?" Penny said, turning to face Lana.

"I can't either. We've got to do something..." Lana thought for a little while before she had an idea.

"Leave here alone, Emily!" she shouted at the older girl.

"Excuse me?" Emily asked, raising an eyebrow at Lana.

"I said leave her alone." Lana said more sternly.

"Why should I? Is she your friend?" Emily asked in disgust.

"No...but what you're doing is pathetic, Emily. Haven't you got anything better to do than to pick on other people? Why don't you spend this time fussing over your boring hair?" Lana sassed.
