Chwe Hansol. I went to the rooftop to get my head cleared, and that's where I first met him. I remember being absolutely entranced by his looks and right then there I knew he wasn't fully Korean. He reminded me of Leonardo DiCaprio. But in contrast to his face, he was the kind of kid who always had his earphones on, just blasting music through his ears and always preferred to be alone.
I don't know what came over me to approach him, and that's where it started I guess. Turns out, he doesn't really like to be alone. But because people would sometimes treat him differently and look at him weirdly just because he wasn't full Korean, he preferred to stay alone than to face their judgment.
After that encounter, I went to the rooftop every day just to spend time with him and I became his first friend. He was actually really nice and fun to be around with. You just need to get to know him and you'd definitely like him. He had such a lovely smile that my seventeen-year-old self back then would always blush at.
I could feel falling the more I spent time with him, and I thought it was love. When I finally had the courage to tell him my feelings, I saw him with another girl. He looked really happy talking with her that I couldn't just intervene shamelessly. I smiled when he laughed at something she said and decided to leave them alone.
her name was Kim Dahyun, he said. I remember that he told me how in love he was with her. She was the first person aside from me to see him as him and not as a foreigner who came to Korea. I couldn't spoil his happiness back then, so I kept my feelings to myself and decided to let them go. It took a bit of time, but I managed to do so.
Even now, Hansol and I are still friends. We still keep in touch with each other so I know what's been happening with him recently. He's currently a very famous Youtuber that posts a lot of his original raps. Sometimes he would do a vlog with his girlfriend, Dahyun, and sometimes he would also produce original songs and would make his girlfriend sing with him.
I'm really glad that I decided to let go of him. I don't think that I can make him happy the same way that she does. I'm happy that they ended up together, I hope that they stay strong and I hope me and Hansol stay friends. I wish the best for both of them
