I patiently waited in the entranceway for Seth to arrive. I sat on the bottom of the stairs and picked at a stray string on my jeans with my fingernails.
Amanda was in the kitchen, drinking alcohol with her friends as they were wrecking the kitchen. Pots and pans fell to the floor as they dug through the cabinets. The base of the rap music vibrated the enclosure.
I peeked out the door, a smile finding my face as I saw Seth's blue truck pull onto my street.
Thunder shook the ground. Rain lightly dropped from the sky, landing on the single cab that was now parked on the side of the street in front of the house.
Nobody noticed as I slipped through the door. Drops pebbled on my raincoat; the humidity already making me sweat.
I hopped up in the vehicle, a grin sitting on my face.
"Hey there." Seth greeted me with an uplifted smile.
"Hi." I responded, leaning over the console and pecking his cheek.
Seth was known for his handsome features, that is not why I like him though; his personality drew me in. The dark-haired, brown-eyed teen was probably a clown in his past life. He made everything funny. My full life felt enjoyable when I was around him. I could loosen myself up and stop being so serious.
"Hey. Did Amanda see you leave?" Seth asked, peering through the passenger side of the window.
"No, would you like to go ask if we could hang out?" I offered, "She is not in the best mood today."
"No thanks. I choose life." He joked.
The engine rumbled as the truck vroomed down the street. The rain simmered down slowly until it no longer fell from the sky. We sat in a peaceful silence until we pulled into the drive-in theater in our home town.
"I have been excited to watch this with you." Seth said, sarcasm laced in his tone. He turned the keys in the ignition to accessory mode.
Everything was silent until he turned the radio up and ads boomed through his speakers. Both of us jumped, his hand flying back to the knob to quickly dial it back down.
I unbuckled and lifted the center console up. My feet pushed against the carpeted floor so that I could scoot closer to him.
My head leaned against his shoulder, breathing on his cologne as I watched 'jaws' with him. We had watched it many times together; it was our favorite horror movie. We agreed to act like we had never watched it before every time we went to see it.
"I love you." I whispered.

The morning light displayed on a beige wall, giving it a mesmerizing golden tint. I remained motionless as Lorenzo's muscular arm imprisoned my body in place next to his. Tears filled my eyes from reminiscing on the last date me and Seth went on.
I had been awake for a while. I did not want to wake Lorenzo up. He was fast asleep, his neck exposed.
I found myself imagining slitting the veins that his blood pulsed through. If I had the heart to kill him, I would. The problem is that I did not have enough evil in me to go through with it. I still save bugs on sidewalks for Pete's sake; I could not actually kill a person.
Not only did I not have the mental state to carry through with such violence, but I did not have the strength. Lorenzo stood several feet taller than me. He had a brute toughness that I had never seen before. All the light bruises I have put on him from fighting have disappeared basically within days. No, I did not want to murder him. But I did want to hurt him. It felt wrong to not get even with all the pain he has caused me. Each moment I am trapped with the man, I feel the itch to get more savage.
