The sun is blindly bright as I hold hands with Mommy and Daddy as we lie in the grass - me between them. We laugh and joke as we point out shapes from the clouds. I am only 3 years old.
"Look, Daddy! It's a bunny rabbit!" I giggle.
"Yes, that's right, Princess," Daddy says, pulling me into a hug. He then starts tickling my sides and I start laughing hysterically.
"No! Daddy, stop it." I laugh and scream. Not long after, though, I am saved by Mommy, who picks me up and sits me on her hip.
"Behave you two." She smiles and gives Daddy a kiss.
"Yukie!" I cover my eyes and Mommy puts me down again.
When I uncover my eyes, the sky has turned grey and the clouds seem to be brewing a storm. I look at the top of the hill in front of us, a figure standing there with bright red eyes. It points towards us, then the ground starts to crumble and break away. "Run!" Daddy yells and takes my tiny hand in his, and Mommy's hand in his other.
We run as fast as we can towards our house on the other side. However, as we get closer, the house moves further and further away. Before I know it, Mommy is falling into the crumbling ground. She screams and daddy tries to grab her, but he fails.
"No!" he shouts. I watch as Mommy falls into the black abyss below. Daddy momentarily pauses, to grieve and suffer, but regains his composure. "Come on, Princess," Daddy says and continues running.
As we run, I trip over a log. Daddy stops to come back for me, but he is too late. I soon find myself falling into the black abyss. His face fades as I fall deeper. I scream.
"Don't worry Princess. I'll always find you... no matter what. In this world or the next, I'll find you."
I wake up to the fast motion of a vehicle. I crack my eyes open and look around. I'm sitting behind the passenger seat in a luxury car. The interior of the car is grand: heated seats, a polished finish, cream colour scheme and blackout windows. There is also the royal emblem on each of the car seat headrests.
That explains a lot. Where are they taking me anyway?
I slowly twist my head to look out of the window. I see a road sign:
'Welcome to Sector II'
I sit up fully and look around the car in greater detail. There are men dressed in suits all around me.
"Rise and shine, sleeping beauty," the driver, who is also the guard that 'escorted' me earlier, states with a huge grin plastered on his face. Gosh, how I want to slap it off his stupid face. I gave him the: are-you-serious? look, but his stupid grin just grows and he winks at me in the mirror.
"How long was I out?" I mumble, rubbing my head, my voice sounding dry and hoarse.
"Couple of hours, we have about 2 and a half hours 'til we get there. So, sit tight and behave."
"Where are we going?" I ask the question that has been bugging me for ages, so I just ask to get it off my chest. I faintly remember Lola telling, but it slips my mind.
"Sector Zero," he states bluntly, but with a hint of amusement. I groan internally. Right, I remember now. No one goes there. Unless you're a servant or guard, only the royal family and people with the utmost importance stay there. Even if you just get to look at the sign you are considered privileged in life.
