Izuku mumbled to himself drowsily, turning in a slow manner as he wrapped himself up in his blankets. Despite the muffled nose in his ears, he showed no indication of waking up, instead favoring to push his luck.

"Brat... Brat... BRAT!" Hisashi shouted, finally pinching and yanking his ear once he became fed up enough.

Izuku winced, sitting up in bed. "What...?"

"I TOLD YOU TO STOP SLEEPING ALL DAY!" Hisashi roared, pushing the boy's head into the wall and waking him from his tired stupor. His skull slammed against the wall with reckless force and, if he weren't so used to his father's enraged ranting and such, he most certainly would've burst into tears.

"What now?" he mumbled, rubbing the back of his head.

Hisashi snarled. "Don't 'what now' me, brat. Get off your lazy ass and be productive for once. God knows you can't do anything else right." He glared at the boy, almost daring him to show his insolence, but simply turning once he received no reaction. "Remember, I can kick you out at any time. It's just a matter of when." And, with those last words, Hisashi slammed the door to Izuku's room. After a moment, however, he shouted, adding, "AND WAKE THE HELL UP!"

Izuku turned towards the door, straining his ears as he listened for the moment where he couldn't hear his father's footsteps anymore. Once a few moments had passed after a tense silence, the boy grumbled, throwing his blankets off of himself.

"And if it were up to me," he mumbled nastily, "You'd be 6 feet in the ground."

However, he immediately suppressed those thoughts. After all, boys like him were supposed to want to be heroes, not murderers. So, he supposed, he would just bide his time until his father's reckoning came. Until then, though...

Izuku glanced towards his clock, seeing that it was nearly 2pm. "That's not even my worst," he mumbled annoyedly, quickly pulling his pants on. "What's got the old man so ticked?"

Hisashi was quite an interesting man. In front of people, he was the kindest person they could ever meet. He and Izuku were a perfect family portrait.

At home, however, it was an entirely different story. In reality, the man was a drunkard who seemed to take pleasure in torturing and admonishing his son despite the qualities that would make him a dream come true for any other father.

Too bad you can't choose who you're stuck with.

After a few moments of lazily staring at the wall, stuck in his own mind, Izuku pushed himself off his bed and stepped outside his room. Without even a glance towards his father, he walked into the living room before slipping his shoes on and heading outside.
