Chapter 4 • After breakfast we packed up our stuff and walked out the door. We woke up really late I'm guessing, according to the sun, it was a bit passed noon. "It's like a ghost town out here." he said, looking around. We walked down the road until we found another house. "Here?" he asked, pointing to a house. "Yeah.." I walked up on the porch and opened the door. No struggle at all, it was wide open. I guess nobody lives here. We searched the house on the first floor. "Clear," he said, in another room. "all of it." "Alright, let's check upstairs." I said. Carl was behind me as we were walking up the stairs. "Mmm." he moaned. "Carl stop staring at my ass." What a perv. He just laughed as he followed me into a room. "Hey look June, a comic book." he said. "Save it, read it when you feel the safest, you don't wanna get caught off guard." I said. "Jeez, sure, ruin the fun, mom." he said, teasingly. After that his emotions changed a little. I know how much he misses his mom...

We walked into another room. "Damn, look at that." he said. "What?" I asked, looking out the window, I didn't want to turn around, the trees were a beautiful color. "That...that ass." he said. "Oh my God, Carl, stop." I said, angrily but embarrassed. He laughed. "June, I'm kidding, darling, look, this xBox. Damn, I miss electricity..." He said, laughing a little. I turned around. "Yeah..." I said, sadly. "Still, that ass." he said quietly. "Carl." I whined. "Sorry." he said, laughing.

We walked back downstairs, this time, I was behind him. We walked in the kitchen. "Carl...Look..." I said. I pointed to a huge can of chocolate pudding on the top of this shelf. "Dibs!" he said, jumping on the counter. "Theres a Snickers up here if you want it, cause I call dibs on this whole can." he said. "Pssh, in your dreams. You'll get sick and fat if you eat that whole thing!" I said. "Again, ruining the fun like always." he said, jokingly. "Fine," he said, "we'll share if it makes you feel any better."
