Chapter 5 • We gathered up a ton of food and found a bed upstairs. Carl ate half of that damn can of pudding, so his stomach hurt. I lit a candle so it wasn't so dark. We both layed down and chatted for a while. We were both laying sideways, looking into each other's eyes. "So you're a sleep-cuddler?" I asked, giggling. "No, I did it on purpose," he started to say, smiling. "I couldn't help it, I missed laughing and smiling, having somebody with me." "I'm just glad you're here, and not dead. I missed this too. You bring out the good in me, Carl." I said. "Can I be honest with you?" he asked. "Sure." "Well, I had a crush on you, before all of this." he said, blushing. "Well, do you still like me?" I asked. "Yeah." he said, laughing a little. "'Love' actually." "Aww, Carl...I...I love you too." I said. I was so happy, but scared at the same time. Love will only get us hurt, but only if we mess up. We have to be safe... "Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?" he said. I was still in a daze, looking into his eyes, thinking about our future. I snapped out of it. "Huh?" I asked. He laughed. "God, you're adorable." I hid my face because I was so embarrassed. "Aww.." he said, pulling me loser to him as he hugged me. I put my head up and he looked into my eyes again. "Is it okay if I-" "yea" I interrupted. He closed his eyes and kissed me. He took my breath away. That was my first kiss. So gentle and soft... I fell asleep in his arms that night.

I woke up before him so I got up as quietly as I could so I wouldn't wake him up. He was snoring a little. Wow, how attractive. I looked around the house. I wanted to get him a present. I found 2 rings inside of a drawer in another room, along with some matches. These are perfect. I put them in my pocket for later.
