Chapter 7: A Turn For The Worst

The Same Night

Y/n Pov

Me and Loba tried to make it back to the Apex building, but were stopped by news reporters and paparazzi every block.

We got there after, what should have been a 30 minute walk, a 2 hour trudge through fans and reporters.

-at the building-

I was welcomed to my room by a few legends congratulating me.

Mirage, Gibraltar, Octane, Bloodhound, Pathfinder, even crypto was there.

Octane: "Ehey, congratulations amigo! Here, I made my, 'stimshot' shot! *sip* YEEEEEHEEE that's got a kick!"

Y/n: "Thanks for the offer, but uh, I'll pass."

Octane: "Suit your self"

A few other people brought food and other stuff, and everyone made smalltalk about the game.

As everyone decided to leave, I could see that Loba was a bit off.

I sat down next to her on the couch.

Y/n: "Hey baby, what's wrong?"

Loba: "Oh you should know"

I thought to myself

What could I have done wrong?

Y/n: "Hmm... I'm not sure I do. Could I get a reminder?"

She crossed her arms and slouched a bit

I wrapped my arms around her in a hug. I kissed her neck and cheeks.

I then gave her a little full body massage

She seemed relaxed, but still a bit uptight.

Loba: "Hey babe, I think I need a night to myself. I love you so much, but I think it'll be best. "

I was a bit shaken.

Y/n: "Y-yeah. Yeah I get it. I love you babe. Have a good night."

She gave me a smooch and went to her room.

I could hear her playing music semi, loud. It was the song that I played for her a week ago.
Damn I love that woman.

-2 am-

I can't fucking sleep. I'm so used to having Loba in my arms, it was just so different.

There was a noise. A very strange one.

I realized that it was scratching. Right outside my bedroom door.

I got up to investigate and cracked it open.

There stood it.

Revenant.

The thing that killed my father. Killed Loba's parents. I wanted to kill him so bad.

Revenant: "Ah, y/n. What are you doing up at this hour?"

Y/n: "what are you doing in my place?"

Revenant: *groan* "Well, I was going to... have a chat with you."

Just then, his hand turned into his signature blade, and plunge it into my stomach.

I was going to scream, but I knew he would like that, so, I stared him down.

He wiggles his hand a bit, expecting me to break, but I kept staring.

He looked startled. He poofed into black dust and disappeared.

I heard a knock on the door.

I fell on the ground, holding my stomach in pain, trying to keep the blood from pouring out.

I heard someone walking up to the door.

Y/n: "help... me..."

I looked and saw that it was Loba

Loba: "What the- BABY!! What happened to you?! Shh, don't say anything, we're getting help."

I groaned in response, unable to speak.

Loba: "Stay right here baby, I'll get someone to help."

She sprinted out of the room

Ten seconds later she has Gibby and Elliot rushing through the door.

That's all I remember before I blacked out.

Loba Pov

They carried him to lifelines room, which doubled as an infirmary.

I tried to tell her what happened, but not even I knew.

She immediately hooked her drone up to him and put him on IV.

-the next day-

Y/n Pov

I woke up in a hospital bed, with Loba sleeping on me.

She must have sensed that I was awake and spring to life. She put me in a death grip, and buried her nose in the crook of my neck.

She the started bawling.

I stroked her hair and whispered in her ear

Loba: "B-b-Baby I-I. *sniffle* I lo- *sniffle* I... *crying*"

Y/n: "Aww baby. Shh shh, it's ok. I love you too, so so much."

Her crying went from waterfall to sink trickle

Loba: "Wh- what happened?"

I then explained the situation

Y/n: "If it weren't for you, I probably would be dead right now."

Her eyes teared up.

I saw this hand hissed her forehead and stroked her hair again.

Y/n: "What were you even doing there?"

Loba: "Oh, well, I couldn't sleep. I don't know why I left you there. I'm so sorry baby. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm just, so sor-"

I cut her off with a kiss.

Y/n: "Don't be. You saved my life. You needed space. It's ok."

Loba: "But I didn't. I just needed you. I was just jealous that you won the game, has the new burst of fame. I need you. I'm so-. *sigh*"

She hugged me tighter.

Lifeline walked into the room

Lifeline: "So, kid. You're fine to go."

Y/n: "Thanks, friend"

We went back to my room and laid on the couch.

I put on some music

We just lay there, appreciating each other's company. What a great way to spend the day.

Eventually, Loba got up. She came back with another one of my hoodies. One that was even big on me, and she curled up on my lap.

I watched a movie while she snuggled against me.

I could feel that she feel asleep, because I could feel that she was limp. I grabbed her gently and lay back, putting her on top of me.

All I could say, is that today was a strange chain of events.
