Perrie finds herself sneaking into her own house trying not to attract Alex's attention before she's ready. It's all for naught though cause he's watching her from the kitchen with an amused smile. "Sneaking back in?"
Perrie jumps and then squeaks out. "Hi!"
Alex gives her a funny look but just takes another bite of his cereal. "You have a good time with Jes?" She doesn't see any suspicions or worry in his eyes. He's just asking.
"Um yeah, we-" Perrie pauses and then, "Actually, no. It was kind of a shit show."
Alex puts his bowl down and walks around the counter to give her a hug. "You alright? What happened?" Perrie wants to push him away. She doesn't deserve to be comforted by him right now. So she does. She pushes against his chest lightly and he pulls back right away. "Perrie?"
She shakes her head to try to shake off the nerves. "Please don't hate me."
Alex doesn't hesitate when he says, "I love you," but he looks wary.
"I told her." Perrie bites her lip as she waits for it to sink in.
He takes a step back from her. "You told her?" Perrie nods. "Told her what?" His voice is even and calm and that makes it worse. He's just like Jes in that way.
"That we fancy her." He turns away from her a bit so Perrie keeps going. "What you said last night about it not feeling right. I realized you were right. We were hiding this from her and she deserved to know."
"This was the plan. This was why you went to brunch." Perrie gives a little nod. She almost hopes he doesn't see it. "You should have told me. This involves me."
"I know. I'm sorry. I just didn't want it to be another conversation we've had about her that she wasn't in on."
"So you left me out instead?"
"I didn't know what to do." Perrie waits for him to say something else but when a minute passes and his lips don't so much as twitch she gives up, "Do you want to know what she said?"
He glances at her for the first time, "She's thrilled and wants to move in with us."
Perrie rolls her eyes and mutters, "I wish." It was too low for Alex to hear but something about the way he looks at her when she does it makes her think he caught it somehow. "She was... upset."
"Of course she was upset, Perrie. We've been hiding this from her. This thing that entirely revolves around her." She wonders how long he's been worried about this. "She must feel so violated." Perrie quirks her head. That's not a word Jesy used but she kept talking about them watching her. That they were watching her together without her knowing. She wonders if that's what Jesy meant. If she felt violated that they'd been looking at her in a romantic way when she thought it was all platonic. "Is she okay?"
Perrie almost wants to smile. She likes that he's so concerned about Jesy. "She was confused and hurt."
Alex sighs and plops down onto one of their kitchen stools. "I can't believe you did this without telling me."
"I'm sorry."
"I should have been there." Perrie's not sure she agrees. She thinks maybe it was better that it was just Jes and her but she knows that Alex should have known what she was doing beforehand. It should have been a discussion. "This was a decision we should have made together. We're a team, Perrie."
"I'm a team with Jes too though." She says it softy in the hopes that it will help get her point across.
"But these are my feelings! My feelings for her. It wasn't your right to go tell her without me."
