Last chapter recap:
Looking up the ceiling, I wonder aloud. "If I'm literally being treated the same in Korea, no warm welcome, a bunch of chores, no ACTUAL healthy family interactions, I wonder why it's going to be different from when I lived abroad. I at least hope to gain some REAL friends.." My stomach gurgles in uncertainty, or maybe hunger.
I heave a sigh, leaving my bed and trudging towards the kitchen to grab some leftover bibimbap.
.•:* *:•.
"Ugh..." I groan out, stretching my body and slowly opening my eyes. I pat the bed's sides with my hands, slowly sitting up to find the harsh rays of the sun seeping through the window and into my bedroom. I inch towards the bathroom, taking a cold shower to fully wake me up (and possibly give me a heart attack for being TOO cold when I open it). Wrapping the towel around my frame, I give the uniform a once-over.
Do I really want to go to school? I thought, before giving up and putting on the uniform. Since I'm (unwillingly) in the fashion department, I assume I have more creative liberty. Hmm.. I take a gander around my closet, finding anything remotely nice to go along with this rather simple outfit.
I slip onto the white shirt, fastening the tie before adding a bright fawn colored sweater vest. I find some navy blue and white barrettes, clipping them onto my now-brushed hair, quickly patting down any loose strands. Taking a deep breath, I put on my shoes and grab my [Favorite Color] backpack, hanging it around one shoulder and skipping down the stairs with a cheery momentum.
"[Your Name], dear. The maids packed you some sandwiches for breakfast. Take it and hurry out before you're late. No daughter of mine will be late on the first day of school." Mom calls out from the kitchen, sitting on one of the chairs and looking into her pocket mirror. She smiles half-heartedly, smothering on some lipstick on her already red lips. "Mhm, alright." I say begrudgingly, taking the sandwiches which were wrapped in tissue.
Taking a small bite and holding it with one hand, I use the other to open the door. "Don't forget to introduce yourself as THE [Last Name]! Mommy needs more exposure for her modeling gig." She giggles in a faux-like manner, clasping her heels onto her feet. I close the door quickly and head towards the same cafe I went to yesterday.
Maybe the barista guy... Uh... Bum Jae, was it? Maybe he'll be there.. I think to myself, slightly smiling. It's not bad to stop by for coffee, right? After all, it's on the way to school.. I continue nomming on my sandwich, scrolling through my phone in a nonchalant manner.
"Oof!" I say, bumping onto something, rather, someone. I take a step back and rub my nose, slightly hurt by the impact. I swear if I break my nose again.. "Oh, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have taken a step back. Uh.. Are you alright?" A sweet and gentle voice calls out from above, and I thought I could've died or something. I look up and see a tall guy, looking down at my worriedly.
Woah... He's beautiful. I think to myself, observing the swoopy charcoal hair, and the strong hand which tried to offer me balance as I stumble around. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine.." I chuckle to myself, shaking my head in shame. What the heck, get a grip [Your Name]! It's not some fantasy where they just fall in love-- What am I saying?!
