Maddie's pov
I followed Dr Anderson back to the clinic. Before going inside the building, I made sure to wipe my shoes on the door mat as they were dirty and muddy from the rain.
The last thing I wanted to do was ruin his floor.
Looking around the waiting area, I noticed that the old man, woman and her kid were no longer there.
The only person left was Kylie.
Who of course, was still sleeping.
Nothing new.
"Let's head to my office so that you can get properly dried off." Dr Anderson said, breaking the ice between us.
I nodded.
"This way."
Trailing along behind from, I clutched his coast as we walked down the dimly lit corridor.
It was so warm and smelt of rich vanilla, which I was guessing was from his cologne.
But still, I couldn't believe that I let my emotions get the best of me back there.
Running out like that-
What a coward.
Not to mention it was in front of him!
Congratulations Maddie-
For making yourself look like an utter fucking fool.
We stopped in front of a white door engraved with the words, 'DR A. ANDERSON', on a sliver plaque.
"Come." He said, opening the door, inviting me in.
Woah...
I was astonished by the outlook of his office.
The walls were covered in mahogany (apart from the ceiling). A cream furry rug was underneath a leather sofa along with a matching foot stool. At the back of the room, a closed laptop was resting on a long rectangular glass table. Behind it, was a piece of artwork that looked...unusual to say the least. His two shelves were also made out of the same wood as the walls. They were filled with all kinds of books - science fiction, crime, history, horror, autobiographies. This guy clearly loves reading! Ornaments in all shapes and sizes were used as spacers in between these books, looking expensive af. However, what I admired most about his office was how he managed incorporate nature. Plants and flowers can bring freshness to any room.
The man even had a real fucking fire place!
"You can sit down, you know." Dr Anderson spoke out, noticing I was just standing there.
"I'll get your couch all wet, though." I said, unsure.
"A bit of water won't do any harm."
"Here are some towels," He said, passing them to me.
"I'm gonna go and fetch some new clothes for you. I'll be right back."
"Ok."
And with that, Dr Anderson left the room.
I took a seat on the edge of the sofa so that I was nearer to the toasty fireplace and dried myself as best as I could.
