Song for the chapter: Bad influence by Omah lay.
Tomi
I walked into the house quietly and tiredly with the hopes of not walking into Kiki. If anything, I was not ready to face Her just yet. All I needed was time. Time to grasp the rubbish that I've been hearing, Time to brace myself for our next encounter. Time, Just time.Sigh.
Who would have thought that Kiki, my "so called best-friend" would get me this worked up.
Coupled with the fact that she made me look like the bad guy when I was advising her against that womanizer, she also lied to me and at the same time, hooked up with Ray. Or should I even say hooking up because I am completely clueless on this issue.
First of all, When did this all hooking up thing even start. Was it during her relationship or after her relationship because if I'm not mistaking anything, she just called quits with her ex some days ago so what is going on?
I was so buried in my thoughts that I didn't notice the figure sitting in the dark.
"You've not been picking up my calls and You didn't even bother to reply my texts." Kiki said bitterly as soon as I turned on the lights.
I looked at her briefly and at the same time, I looked around the room. As expected, the living room was spotless and wait! Is that a new furniture I see. I couldn't be less surprised. Kiki shops like a billionaire whenever she's going through a phase. I focused my gaze on the plush yellow couch that was screaming my attention and I made a mental note to relax on it properly when I was settled in but for now, I need to focus on Kiki.
I sighed heavily. "Hello to you too Kiki." I gave her a small smile before I turned to the door and I shut it properly.
"Tomi I've been trying to reach you." She started and I squinted my eyes at her. "I know we are not in a good place but Friends fight right?" She folded her arms across her chest.
Wetin musa no go see for gate! And to think that I was expecting an apology from this young lady but I guess the leopard can't ever get rid of it's spots. I can't wait to hear how she's going to apologize because I'm not backing out without a solid apology. One to me and another one to my brother. At this point, I couldn't care less for Ray.
"Kiki please I just got back from work and as you can see." I gestured to myself. "I'm extremely tired and I would appreciate if you would just allow me go into my room to at least freshen up or better still sleep before you play Detective Nancy on me."
"And then what will happen that? We both know that you're still going to ignore me so why not talk now. Please Tomi let's just talk now." Kiki insisted intensely and I faked a smile.
"Okay if you say so. Start talking." I walked to the yellow couch and I sat down on it before I bent down to unbuckle my favorite brown strapped heel sandals. She sat on the opposite couch and she waited for me to finish up but I took more time than usual to intentionally annoy Her.
She cleared her throat. "The other day we-"
I raised my head. "Nice couch by the way." I commented.
She cleared her throat again. "Well thank you. I got you some things too but I don't know if you would like-" She stopped talking as soon as she saw the way I was busy typing on my phone.
I faked a yawn. "Kiki can we just get this over with. I don't want to fall asleep on this new couch. I know how much you dislike it when I sleep in the living room.
She folded her hands in front of her and a solemn look took over her features and a part of my heart ached for her. Maybe just maybe I was being a little harsh on Her.
She closed her eyes for a second before she started. "Like I was saying before you interrupted me, The other day, we had an argument and I agree that I was wrong. I was supposed to tell you truth at all times and not embarrass You or Your brother in the manner that I did." She rushed like she memorized every word before I got here.
"So?" I asked with a shrug of my shoulders.
"So?" She repeated in awe. "Is that all you have to say?" I muttered duh and she let out a nervous laugh before licking her lips. "Tomike I just said like over thirty words to you and all you can say is So?"
I cleared my throat and I repeated the exact speech that she had said to me and her eyes grew wide like saucers. "So technically speaking Kiki you said forty-five words to me and in that speech, I couldn't deduce any apology." I snarled. "I'm going to repeat it again. So?"
She bit her lips. "So I'm sorry. Tomike I'm sorry." She leaned back against the sofa, stretching her bare legs out in front of her, clasping her hands behind her neck. "There I said it, I'm sorry. So are we good now?" She smiled.
I grinned widely as I stood up with my strapped sandals in my hands. "Oh my dear friend. I Never thought I'd see the day." I quirked my eyebrows. "Although You need to work on yourself a little because sometimes all it takes is saying a simple sorry. It doesn't hurt to apologize when you're wrong."
I started walking towards the direction of my room. "Especially when you know that you broke almost broke the trust I had for you or should I say completely?" I paused, delicately turning around. "Ponder on that Kiki." I said with a note of finality as I walked into my room and I banged the door shut leaving a dumbfounded Kiki alone in the living room.
