Fuck! Daichi and Suga. I suddenly came to my senses after thinking about them. I needed to clear things up with those two. I took one more sip from the bottle of vodka and rushed out into the living room. I finally got back to the couches where they were all chilling. Yamaguchi and Tsukishima had arrived while I was in the kitchen and they were now fighting playfully with Kageyama and Hinata.

"Hey Liv, do you have my beer?" Oh God, I had totally forgotten about Tanaka's drink with all that had been going on in the kitchen. I was about to tell him that I had run into Kuroo, but decided not to in the end - he was going to get excited and everyone else would find out, and that's the last thing I needed right then.

"Oh yeah, there weren't any cold ones, and I figured you wouldn't want to drink a warm beer..." it wasn't a lie after all.

"Ugh, I hate warm beer. I'm going to get something else to drink" he stood up and disappeared into the crowd.

"Suga, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked him politely.

"Oh, I'm sorry Liv but-"

"Please, it's really important" He stopped and after a moment of deliberation, nodded, getting up silently from his place next to Daichi. I signaled him to follow me upstairs so that we could talk properly. We stood in the middle of the hallway, I didn't have the guts to get into one of the rooms. I looked him in the eye, he seemed nervous and uncomfortable, his feet were facing away from me and I could tell he wanted to leave.

"Look, I-" I hesitated, not knowing where to start. Should I be blunt and tell him that I knew he liked Daichi? Should I first say that I don't like Daichi? Should I say that I think Daichi loves him too? "I just wanted you to know that - that I have no intentions whatsoever of dating Daichi."

He flinched noticeably and looked at me with fear in his eyes. He nervously said: "w-why -why would I - I care if you date him?"

"Oh gosh," I mumbled under my breath. I was such an idiot, I should have been more tactful about the situation. He obviously wasn't comfortable showcasing his feelings for Daichi and had kept them a secret to everyone, of course it would come as a shock having someone tell you they know how you feel. "Okay, don't panic, please. I just want to speak to you as a friend. I promise I won't mock you or tell anyone about what we tell each other right now." He was still looking very nervous and uneasy, his shaky hands clenching and unclenching non-stop. With determined movements, I raised my hand, put it into a fist, and extended my pinky finger out to him. "I promise."

He winced at my seriousness, pulling back a little bit. His breathing seemed to slow down after a few minutes and he recovered his usual state of calmness. He copied my movements and wrapped his pinky finger around mine.

"You promise?" He asked, still a little distrustful.

"I do" And with a convincing look on both of our faces, we let go of each others' fingers.

"So...you know?" He asks quietly, embarrassed.

"I know you like him, Suga. Look, you need to understand that it was never my intention to come in between you two. I would never do that to any of you because I care so much about my teammates." He was starting to relax, his posture didn't seem so stiff anymore. "Please, don't hate me for this."

"I don't hate you." He cut me off. "I'm sorry for the way I've been behaving around you, I shouldn't have treated you like that. It's just that I felt...threatened." He made a pause, his lungs begging for some air. "I don't know. You were the new, exotic, and cool girl; everybody wanted to be around you. You were so amazingly confident and sparkling that people couldn't take their eyes off of you. And when Daichi fell into your charms as well...it was rough for me." He looked down to his feet, feeling awkward as the conversation got more intimate and personal. "He used to have eyes only for me, you know? We would always find each other in a crowd, our eyes just automatically shot at each other - as if I had an internal compass, pointing at him at all times. But you came along, and Daichi fell for you. I was no longer the only one he cared about, I had to share my spotlight with you, even when you already had a spotlight of your own and shone brighter than anyone. I was tossed aside and became your shadow..."
