Chapter 9

After a while, Vanitas and Ventus sat on the ground. It seemed like Vanitas could cry for hours on end. He didn't know if Ventus was right, was he not going to be hurt again. He didn't know what to do, he didn't want to go home.

"So your afraid of going home?" Ventus said, slightly questioning why.

Vanitas shifted nervously. He didn't want to talk about his abuse or his family. He wasn't so sure this boy would be ready to here about anything that was Vanitas' personal information. Ventus seemed to notice Vanitas was hiding something.

"I am, I just don't feel like talking about my reasons" Vanitas said.

Vanitas had seemed to look to the side after saying that. He didn't think Ventus would notice.

"But no one should hide from their parents." Ventus said.

Vanitas looked at Ventus with a faked smile. He didn't want Ventus to think he wanted to hide. Ventus just took it that way. He seemed to cry as he smiled.

"I-I-I'm just not ready to go h-home that's a-all."

Vanitas realized that he wasn't sure if he wanted to go home ever again. He didn't want to be hurt again, especially through abuse.

"Vani....are you really afraid of something?" Ventus said facing towards the sky.

Vanitas jumped as soon as Ventus said that. He obviously knew he didn't want to go home for a reason. Vanitas didn't know what to say. He couldn't tell him the truth, but it was really the only thing he could say.

"Ventus, I don't know what to do, I am scared of something, I just can't tell you what."

Ventus looked at Vanitas with a frown. He then moved closer to Vanitas and grabbed his hand.

"You don't have to tell me, you just have to let someone know what you are afraid of."

Ventus lets go of Vanitas hand and smiled at him. Vanitas looked down and smiled to himself. Maybe if he'd open up to someone he'd feel safer, he'd feel better.
