Chapter 19 | good news

"I kissed her!"

Heer just couldn't stop smiling. She was officially offered the role of one of the leads in the play. The musical theater was about two step sisters and mainly revolved around their romantic interests and childhood. Raghav Dixit was delighted to see her. She was actually surprised he remembered her. He had given her the brief overview of the storyline. Heer's excitement knew no bounds when he offered her the contract. She had literally read it twice on the way home. It seemed a sound contract. The only hitch was that the play would be performed in five different cities in India. Heer wondered how they would tackle that. 

Nonetheless she was happy. It was literally like a dream come true for her. She owed it to Kabir. Had he not brought it up she would have let the opportunity go. If she had to join the troop, she had to do it in a week's time because most of the cast was already ready to begin the practice.

"Hey!" Kabir opened the door greeting her. 

"Hi!" Heer greeted, entering inside quickly reaching the shoe rack to get rid off her sandals. 

"Where's Advika?" She asked not seeing her shoes at the rack.

"She had the annual day rehearsal today!" He spoke walking towards the kitchen. 

"Oh, right!" Heer spoke quickly washing her hands. 

"Guess what?" She asked excitedly.

"What?" Kabir asked looking at her as she entered with a box of probably pastries.

"You got promoted?" He asked puzzled. Wasn't it too early for promotion? He wondered.

"Raghav Dixit had called me over," she began, as she placed the box inside the fridge.

Kabir's eyes widened as she grinned looking at him. "And?"

"He said he wanted me to play the role of Laasya!" Heer completed placing a hand on the counter as she stood before him.

"Seriously?" He asked appalled. It didn't look like she was playing him.

Heer smiled widely, "he offered me the contract!" 

"Wow, that's ..." Kabir was at a loss of words looking at her. He was so happy for her. He could see her face glowing with happiness.

"Brilliant?" Heer asked smiling like a Cheshire cat.

"Definitely!" Kabir muttered elated, wrapping his arms around her. Heer didn't see that coming, nonetheless she hugged him back. She definitely needed that hug.

"You should definitely take it!" Kabir mumbled.

"I can't believe it... it's like a dream come true!" Heer gushed basking in his embrace.

Kabir pulled away cupping her face, "I told you nothing wrong in pursuing it!"

"Thank you for that!" Heer smiled. 

Their lips were barely inches away. His gaze dropped to her lips as she spoke. His gaze climbed up to her eyes again only to find them looking at his lips as her own lips parted slightly. In the next moment his lips were on hers. Both unable to contain themselves, gave in, with no thoughts whatsoever. 

Heer had never felt so cherished. The kiss slow, soft and comforting. His hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek. Her palms fisted at his shirt around his waist.
