Rayana-

I locked the door and tossed the keys in my crossbody purse and sighed to myself. It had been a long week at work and I was thankful it was finally over and I had some time to relax. Dressed in dark jeans, black booties, a tight black shirt with the right amount of cleavage, and my trusty leather jacket, I was ready to meet Natalia at il Lupo, our favorite dive bar for a well deserved drink.

"There you are!" Natalia waved from the back of the crowded bar, "I saved us a table." Natalia was like a Nubian goddess with thick dark hair cascading down her back, full lips, and a smile that could make even the grumpiest person grin. As sarcastic and guarded as I was, Natalia was the polar opposite with a sunny disposition and an openness that often boarded on naivety. Being on either end of the spectrum always seemed to get us into trouble in one way or another, but we usually came out relatively unscathed.

"Thanks, first rounds on me!" I said as I weaved through the crowd. I walked up to the bar, feeling an odd energy in the air like something was about to happen. "No one would be stupid enough to attack in a bar full of wolves," I thought to myself.

"Two Silver Bullets, please, Fred," I ordered. Fred had been a friend of mine for years and made the best cocktails in town. He also had a sense of humor, especially with his drink menu, and the Silver Bullet was among just a few of the tongue-in-cheek cocktails offered at his bar.

"Anything for my favorite girl! Just take it easy with these, they will put you on your ass," he smiled. Fred was like a father figure to me when I moved to Octavion City at fifteen with no money and nowhere to go. He hooked me up with my job at Dodici, a werewolf owned boxing ring that specializes in hand-to-hand combat, and let me stay in the spare room upstairs until I was able to afford a place of my own.

"Thanks!" I said, giving him a wink as I carried the drinks back to Natalia.

"Something is off, do you feel it?" I asked her as I set the drinks on the table.

"Nah, I think you're just tired from a crazy week, that fight was insane!" Nat said as she started sipping her drink. "Damn, Fred really hooked us up, this is some strong shit," she said as I chuckled to myself.

I noticed that Natalia was acting a bit more cheerful than usual, "What's going on with you? You seem...different," I asked suspiciously, "not that your usual bubbly personality isn't borderline nauseating to me most of the time, but you're extra hyped up today."

She blushed, "Well, I know you don't believe in mates, but I think I found mine."

Just as she said it, a handsome man approached the table, "Speak of the wolf," she said as he kissed her forehead. "So Raya, I want you to meet Sven, my mate," she said dreamily. If I didn't love her so much I would have thrown up all over my favorite boots.

"Pleasure to meet you, Raya," he said with an accent, possibly Norwegian? Goddess, did it even matter, he was HOT! Sven was at least 6'6" with wavy golden blonde hair and piercing blue eyes...does he have a brother? I made a mental note to ask later.

"We met at that cafe on 6th and Lex this morning when I accidentally ran into him and spilled my latte all over his suit jacket," she noted with a sparkle in her eye. This certainly sounded like something Nat would do and it was the perfect meet-cute. Nat typically had horrible taste in men, from Matt, the guy who cheated on her with her Brazilian roommate, to Tyler who broke up with her through a postcard he sent from another country he secretly relocated to, Nat had bad luck. I hope this guy was the real deal and my friend would finally be happy.
