A/N:

Hey so I decided that I'm not going to write my phan story I had planned to after this story.  Thanks for understanding

Enjoy!

********

It's all a dream. You'll wake up and be in your bed, holding Melissa, the love of your life and it'll all be fine.

Joe repeated this mantra in his head as he drove to the hospital to see his once-girlfriend. Since he didn't want Hannah or Caspar to get a heart attack when they would realize Joe was out of their flat, he left a post-it note (A/N: Jayla that was for you) telling them not to worry and that he was going to be out for a couple hours.

Even though Melissa and Hannah had been best friends for God-knows how long, Joe couldn't bear to tell her that she was currently in the hospital for a problem he started. He felt as if they both didn't need that in their lives at this moment.

Joe didn't need it because he was already heartbroken at what he had done to Melissa.

Hannah didn't need it because Joe feels as though her relationship is going perfectly fine and didn't need anything to ruin it.

Oh how wrong he was.

*~*

"Hey Joe, have you told Hannah or Caspar about her?" Alfie asked right when Joe walked through the front doors of the hospital.

He shook his head. Alfie sighed. "You do realize that Melissa is Hannah's best friend and she deserves to know about this?"

Joe brushed off his argument and asked where Melissa's room was. Room 214. How pleasant... the date of the dreaded day. Joe thought to himself as he rushed to the elevator. The ride up was an awfully awkward silence, since they both felt as if they made a comment the other would either brush it off or start a fight.

The tension between all of them had thickened.

Melissa and Joe was self-explanatory. So was Joe's with basically everyone. Even Hannah and Caspar had some tension because everytime Caspar would bring it up, Hannah would end up yelling at him for bringing it up and then shutting herself off from everyone. After about two hours of sitting in silence she would go find Caspar and apologize. This routine happened almost twice a week.

When Joe and Alfie finally got to Room 214, Alfie let Joe go in alone. "Don't touch her or I swear to God.." Alfie started but Joe walked in and wasn't able to hear the rest of his friend's threat.

One step into the room and he could already feel the tears on the brim of his eyes. Melissa was hidden behind a curtain, shielding off the two once more.

It was a creme colour, much like the colour of the walls in their- oops sorry, Joe's room. The creme colour brought back distant memories from their relationship. Their first kiss, first date, first night together, first everything. The pain was too much, but he continued into the room to finally see Melissa after so long.

He slowly drew back the paper thin curtain as far as he could to take a clear look at Melissa.

His legs couldn't support him as he felt the cold ground connect hard with his knees. The pain felt there was no match to the pain felt in his heart as he stared at the coma-induced state of Melissa. Right at the position he was in, he couldn't see much, barely the top of her head. So when he found the strength once again, he stood up shakily and clutched onto the side of her bed for support so he couldn't fall again. He took a long look at her features.
