Chapter 7:Bounty Of StrengthLeaning my back into the couch, my legs crossed and the perfect view of the sky scrapers from the office on the third floor. I had a glass of red wine, which the maid had handed to me, and I silently awaited for Zion to begin.
Taking a sip of the fine wine, the bitter but energising alcohol which made all the hair on my body stand up.
"I am pretty sure, I was not invited for a drink so why don't we get what ever it is started?" I asked, setting the glass on the coffee table in front of me.
"I want to know if you are aware of what you have caused to yourself, since you have ran away." I narrowed my eyes unaware of what he was saying, being away from him allowed me to be free and not feel claustrophobic from the intense pressure from everyone around and the constant need to be someone I was not."All I know is that I was free from a betrayer and secondly I am able to protect myself." I spoke rather calmly which had surprised me, it was so unexpected but not wanting to waste my breath or let my blood boil for a man like him.
It was like a click of a finger, he now stood in front of me his hands on either side of the arm chair and his face was incredibly close to mine.
"You have given yourself a bounty of strength, other mafia's are out for your head to strengthen there mafia. You are known to be never defeated, killing you will make them carry the title on." I was shocked at what he was telling me, but I was not surprised I was well aware I had enemy roaming around but a bounty set for my head.
"I am able to take care of myself." I spoke confidently, my eyes staring deeply into his and I could see anger flash through his eyes.
"For Christ sake, stop being childish. There is one of you and hundreds of them." He yelled, standing up straight to his full height."Are you doubting my capability, for sure I have shown you how capable I am." I yelled back, standing up, we were inches apart, I could feel his breath fanning my face.
"Never. your strength, beauty and personality was what attracted me too you Milan." I rolled my eyes at him, looking anywhere but at him."That was your biggest mistake, you wanted someone who you knew would never be accepted in our society. If you knew you could not handle the criticism thrown at you for being with me then you should have never asked for my hand." I retorted, the anger did not fade but the look of hurt was clear. I was the only person who could see him like an open book.
"I can fight Milan, I can fight for us. Give me a chance." Finally my eyes met his, I always thought hearing him beg for me would give me satisfaction but as I stood here I knew how wrong i was.
"I do not forget, certainly do not forgive." The tough, emotionless tone I gave him made his jaws clench together."Tough luck, because I am too selfish to let you go." I became frozen by his words. The silence in the room enabled me to hear my own heart beat, I could feel it racing and feared he could see what he can still do too me.
"Zion, let it go. Leave it." I spoke attempting to pull away a very angry man who at this moment looked like a lion ready to pounce, my glare was set on the man opposite us but I knew I had to get Zion away before he did something which would end up in the newspaper tomorrow.
I sighed in relief as his eyes dropped to me, he allowed me to turned around and begin to walk.
"That's right, be a coward and run behind her." This seemed to have angered Zion, as the next moment the grip I had on him was gone and instead Zion was on top of his cousin punching him repeatedly.
"Zion, get off him." I looked around trying to find a guard who can help and once I saw I raised my hand calling the guard over, I watched as the guard hurried and with two more guards joining him they were able to pull Zion away from his cousin who was on the floor bloody.
Tangling my fingers with his in a tight grip I began to pull him away, anger was clear as I began to march and the sharp intakes.
"Do you have any idea of what you have Just done."I yelled turning around, my hands in the air whist glaring at him.
"If I had the chance to go back, trust me Baby I would do it all over again...maybe this time actually kill him." I scoffed at his behaviour, Zion's temper was like mine and it was definitely not a good thing."When tomorrow's newspaper will hold the big bold text 'Mafia King caught in feud with his cousin over a Women' not something that would give a good impression." I yelled, but gasped as he gripped both my arms and pulled me to him so my chest was pressed against him.
"Your mine, baby. If anyone tries to hurt you I will kill them." I felt my body freeze and my heart skip a beat a small smile lifted on my lips and it was that moment when I tipped toed on to my feet, my palms on his shoulders stabilising me and our lips connected.
Our first kiss!
Memories are like season they bring colour and once it's over it begins to disappear, leaving nothing but a stain as a reminder. Winter brought snow, summer brought the sun, autumn brought the colourful vibrant leaves and spring brought rain and blossoming flowers.
"Daddy you brought a friend."
