breakfast

Aliyah Cosentino
-
i woke up from my nap confused, it was about 9pm.

"woah! you scared me!" i yelled as i saw my mom sitting at the edge of my bed.

"i'm sorry angel." she said calmly.

"is everything okay?" i asked, sitting up.

"mattia told me you were upset today."

"alvaro and roshuan left." i said, with no emotion.

"angel, listen to me. leaving your friends is apart of growing up. you guys are the best group of friends i've ever seen, you will be friends forever." she said, placing her hand on my leg.

"i know. but i'm scared that being away from eachother will just mean one day, we'll never talk again."

"don't think so negative! you guys will always be friends." she smiled.

"thanks mom" i smiled back.

"did you eat?" she asked

"i'm okay, thank you." i smiled, then she walked out.

a few minutes had gone by when another person walked into my room today, this time it was my favorite face.

"hi babe." i smiled at alejandro.

"hi, can we talk?" he asked, sitting next to me.

"yeah, what's up?"

"how come you don't tell me when you're upset. i can't just assume, ya know? you have to tell me." he said, not even looking at me.

"alejandro i'm fine." i fake laughed.

"then why was mattia here? to comfort you?" he said, now he was looking at me, i could tell he was angry.

"he showed up. he could tell i was upset this morning so he just stopped by. i didn't call him over here to talk to him." i quickly defended myself.

"look, if you have a thing for him just tell me." alejandro laughed, but you could still see the pure anger in his face.

"alejandro for the last time, he's my friend. fucking let it go i'm already having a bad day." i said, turning in my bed, facing anywhere but his direction.

"well if you would've told me you were having a bad day, i'd try to help you. i can't help if i don't even know what's going on." he sighed.

"we said we were going to have the best summer ever, but it's turning out to be the worst." i said, as a tear fell down my face. i knew i was just being dramatic.

"baby girl, we can still have the best summer. i'm sorry." he said pulling me closer to him.

"it's ruined." i pouted.

"we'll fix it." he winked, before cuddling closer to me.

slowly, but surely, we fell asleep.
-
the next morning i woke up alone, no sign of alejandro anywhere.

i grabbed my phone and saw a sticky note attached to it.

babe, i had to go babysit, come over if you want. love, alejandro.

i smiled at the gesture of writing a note and placed it in the box under my bed. it's filled with notes, movie tickets, things like that.

i got up and grabbed shorts and threw them on under my big t shirt.

i walked to the bathroom and did my business. i then found myself aimlessly walking around the house, beyond bored.

i decided to go into kairis room and wake him up.

"hey! kai!" i whisper-yelled as i pushed my brother.

"what?" he groaned.

"i'm bored let's go get breakfast." i said, sitting down next to him.

"fine, pick me out an outfit." he yawned, sitting up and grabbing his phone.

i grabbed him a normal t shirt and a pair of shorts, including his nike socks, of course.

"okay get out i'll be in the living room in five, you're driving." he yawned.

i did what he said and left his room, and went into mine. when i got to my room i decided to change my big tshirt into a tank top, gym shorts, and white vans.

"ready?" i heard kairi ask behind my closed door.

"yesss" i smiled, opening it up.

i grabbed my keys and followed kairi to my car.

"so how are you and megan?" i asked, getting into the drivers seat.

"good, she's really nervous about me leaving though." he said as he got into the passengers seat.

"yeah, that's understandable"

i started driving to the diner a little bit across town as we talked.

"how are you and alejandro?"

"we're- well- were good- kind of."

"aliyah, explain." kairi rolled his eyes, jokingly.

"he's just so jealous of mattia. which i don't understand because i literally have no feelings for mattia what-so-ever."

"i mean it's not like you've had any other friends, we've had the same group forever. i don't know why he would be mad"

"yeah, me either." i sighed.

"maybe he's just nervous too" kairi shrugged.

"maybe." i replied.

"i can talk to him if you want?" he asked

"no kai, it's fine, i'll figure it out." i fake-smiled to my brother.

hopefully i actually do figure it out.
