Once their backstories were out of the way, Emma and Austin got to know each other like regular teenagers on the verge of love. But any FBI analyst will tell you that narcissists can't love and can't feel any emotion that would tell you that person has a soul. But these two individuals were something else. Most of the time they didn't even talk about murder. They talked about their favorite colors and in what sceneries they looked best in and what their favorite animals were - (though Emma couldn't very well pick an animal considering her previous situation). They laughed all day making fun of students and teachers. They ate together at lunch and studied together after all of their classes.
Jade tagged along for most of it but she was a little uncomfortable with how close the two had become. She wasn't used to having friends. And now that she did, they were falling in love with each other. That's plenty reason enough for the situation to be a little awkward. But there was another reason she was becoming more uncomfortable with hanging out with the couple. The other reason was that they seemed to have secrets with each other about different people. They would replace names of people and act like it was an accident when in reality it was on purpose.
For example Austin and Emma were talking about a gory movie they had watched the previous night with Jade. In the movie, the main character Alyssa had gotten a bucket of real blood pourn on her. But Emma and Austin didn't call her Alyssa. They called her Celia. And when Jade questioned it, they said they had watched a different movie where a characters name was Celia. And Jade accepted the answer. The only reason Jade was uncomfortable with the secrets was not because they seemed suspicious, but because they would not let her in on the secret.
But what Emma and Austin didnt know was that Penelope was trailing them. Whenever they were alone, she followed them, waiting for the opportune moment to take them down. She had heard everything they had said in that room. And only because she had been in the room hiding in the closet. She had been collecting the rest of the things of a profesor who had been transfered to another location. When she heard people quietly stalking outside the room she hid in the broom closet that Austin and Emma had not even given a second glance. And because Penelope had hiden in the closet she heard every word.
Sure, she knew exactly the pain Emma had gone through, but never had she once thought of killing anybody because of it. And now, the thought of killing the child no longer disgusted her as it once did. The only thought that terrified her was the actual killing part. She didn't know what she was going to do with the other child though. The one who went by Austin. He had killed his father. But as far as she had heard him say, he had never killed anybody else. Penelope told herself to stick to the original plan of just killing the girl.
Celia herself now despised her husband. One day Celia had been digging throughout the rest of the house in places she never looked in before. And she found other boxes. Boxes full of pictures of other girls that had been sent to them in the past. All the pictures revealing everything. The tears the blood. Her vile, disgusting husband. Celia would have all the other girld killed as well but they are all grown up now and moved to different states, maybe even countries. And they no longer posed a threat to Robert and Celia's marriage. But Emma did. Robert could go to that school at any moment. During the night or when Celia went shopping for food. Emma was too much of a risk and had to be dealt with carefully. And poor Penelope had to be the one to do it.
