Having nothing to do on the day they had free, Emma wandered the campus. She explored the dorm floors, and the main rooms. She wasn't really thinking of anything, not even murder. Every once in awhile the pounding in her head occured and she would give a sharp twitch of her head. Emma finally made her way outside, the sun's rays hitting her pale skin. Her dark brown eyes roamed the many miles of green grass, and her nose prikled at the scent of freshly cut grass. She took long, slow strides down the cobblestone and into the grass. As she was walking, she at last started to contemplate outcomes that might happen if she were caught. The first one that came to her head was she could simply run away. But that would lead the FBI to suspect she was the one murdering people. Duh. But .. she could simply erase her name off of the list that contained all of the students' names. Emma could then find someplace else to go.
Her mind then went from escape plan to hiding place. She didn't want any place dark or cold. The mixture of the two was out. Those two reminded her of Celia's place.
So on a cold, damp Free Day, it was an understatement that Emma was angry. She walked through campus glaring at everything and everyone. She walked into the cafeteria to find Jade sitting there eating a salad. Emma thought she might be trying to lose weight. Next to her was a boy. No boy was a poor term. The better term would young man. He was obviously fit and tall. He had a nice shade of copper brown hair. Emma couldn't see his eyes or face because he was now turned opposite of Jade talking to someone on the other side of him. Emma walked over.
"Oh hey Emma! Come sit across from me!" Jade called as she caught sight of Emma already planning on doing the action. The boy looked at Jade then over at Emma once he heard Jade call. He watched Emma's every move.
To everybody else it would seem like the boy was a fun person. A person who laughed a lot and enjoyed people. To everyone else it would seem that this boy was popular with everyone. But Emma was not everyone. So she saw the interior of the boy simply walking over. She saw his eyes were a brown. And not just any brown. A copper brown just a shade lighter than his hair. He had pale ivory skin that made his eyes stand out even more. She noticed how even though he was transfixed on her, he was keenly aware of everyone else around him. Emma saw he was someone who had had something happen to him to be like that. Something bad. And the boy reminded Emma of someone else. Herself.
Emma sat down across Jade and gave her a smile. Now that she was inside her angriness vaporized. "Aren't you going to eat something?" Jadwe asked noticing Emma had nothing.
"No, actually. I'm not very hungry." Emma noticed from the corner of her eye that the boy still stared intently at her, as if seeing the same thing of her as she did of him.
"Oh. Okay," Jade replied with a shrug of her shoulders. "Emma, this is Austin. Austin, this is my roomate Emma. This is her first year here, but she's been getting around these past few months."
The boy smiled at Emma and nodded. His gaze never faltering. "This is also my first year here. I had no idea this place could be so vulgur. The muders that has been happening are just so exciting yet terrifying. Wouldn't you agree?" Austin said to her.
"Oh yes. I find it quite odd how there have been so many murders and the only thing FBI have done is search rooms. Shouldn't we be in our rooms? Scured and out of the way?" Emma asked trying to feign innocence. It was hard.
"Hmm. I completely agree." Austin said his eyes the only thing filled with curiousness. Jade cleared her throat.
"Well maybe they think that it's safe enough for us to be out and about. Hey, maybe they even caught the killer." Jade suggested. Austin and Emma nodded.
"Well its certainly possible." Austin replied finally breaking his stare from Emma and looking at Jade. Emma remained silent not knowing what to say.
After the tiny conversation they remained silent, Jade eating her salad and Austin eating french fries. Emma sat staring out the window. At least that's how it looked to everyone else but Austin. She was staring at a man desguised as a teacher. Nick Loore the FBI agent.
