No One's POV
As they approached the Ego Tower, it was eerily quiet. There was no sounds of gunshots from Wilford, no arguments between Google and Bing, no chatter from the Jims. All that was heard as Y/N walked in the lobby was the faint sound of The Host narrating from the front desk. This was odd.
They had only been able to come into the building for around six months now, after becoming friends with Dr Edward Iplier. Just a couple of months later, they fell for a certain monochrome man and Y/N's been in a loving relationship ever since. But never in their time in the Tower has it ever been this quiet.
Y/N traversed the hallways, looking in each door to check if they could find anyone. After no luck, they walked into the room where they had been told to never go. The meeting room.
The door was pushed open to reveal a mess. The chairs were upturned, papers lay spread across the floor and they were fairly sure that there was new bullet holes in the ceiling and wall. Y/N walked around the desk, collecting papers that held the cursive handwriting of their boyfriend as they tried to piece together what happened. They reached the right hand side of the table where they found Wilford's favourite hand gun, sighing they picked it up and placed it in the inside pocket of their coat. Not knowing what to do, they walked to the last room on the first floor which was the common room.
The room was normal and quiet. A shuffle was heard followed by a soft voice. "Jim, stop."
Y/N smiled and coughed. Just then a head popped over a couch. Wilford's head turned to the left as his eyes began to adjust to the light. Once he could see the figure, he immediately spoke.
"Ah! Y/N! Don't worry guys! Come on!" After the all clear was given, all of the Egos piled out from behind the several couches. The Jims ran up to Y/N with the full intention of interviewing them about their day but they were stopped by the hand of Bim Trimmer. "What're you doing here, sugar?" Wilford vaulted the back of the sofa and stood by his best friends partner. They shook their head as they spoke,
"Why were you guys behind the sofas?"
"Would you believe me if i said we were playing a mass game of hide and seek?" Will's upper lip twitched as he spoke. "And The Host was seeker?"
"I would, if I didn't know that Host hated the game because he doesn't think it's fair for everyone else." They shrugged and smirked "So are we gonna play games or are you gonna tell me the truth?"
"Alright! Alright!" Wilford whistled loudly and every ego in the room went back to their normal room/office after listening to his instructions. "We were hiding from Dark." Wilford extended his arm for Y/N to take. As they walked down the hallway towards Dark's office, they began to speak.
"And why is that, Will?" Y/N handed the gun back to the moustached man.
"He's been acting all weird today. Speaking all types of mumbo-jumbo." They nodded as he spoke, "And he scared the Jims during the meeting, so then when Bing tried to comfort them he just blew up."
"That explains the table." Wilford nodded "Well, I'm going to speak to him. Look after the rest of them. Oh!" They dug through their bag and pulled out a bundle of bandages. "Give these to Edward, they're for The Host but he can't do them himself."
"Gotcha, sugar! Good luck." Wilford ran down the hallway and left Y/N standing alone outside the dark mahogany door.
Rapping their knuckles on the door and taking their shoes off because they knew that Dark hated people getting carpet dirty. After no answer they tried again causing a groan from inside. The door swung open to reveal a dishevelled Dark. "What?" He looked at Y/N dead in the eyes.
"Can I come in, Love?" They stood still at the door, being slightly shorter than Dark they had to look up to meet his gaze. It was then when they took in the sight. Dark's shell was cracked slightly and his hair was out of place with a clump of it falling down onto his forehead. He steps aside and lets the coat clad person into the office.
The window is open, letting a soft draft into the normally warm office. A click of the door closing is followed by the heavy footsteps of a man who is slowly breaking, he storms to his desk and sits down heavily. Dark then takes his pen and begins to write on a piece of paper. Taking off their bag and coat, the spoke. "Rough day?" No response. "I found these papers in one of the rooms, I'm assuming they belong to you?" Y/N places the stack of loose files on the desk in front of his moving hand. Dark looks up and stares at the stack before continuing to write. They sigh. One more try and then they'll be straightforward. "I brought you some stuff from the store. I've got 75% coco dark chocolate, I got you some coffee and a couple of bottles of water for your fridge." As they pull out each item, it gets placed on the desk. He murmurs a small thank you as they walk from the coffee machine to the fridge. "Alright, Dark. Somethings wrong. Wanna talk about it?" They said as they placed the water on the top shelve.
Yet again no response verbally, but what they did get was another crack in his fragile shell. Reds and blues poked through as a ringing began to sound. "Just leave me be."
"No, I'm not leaving you alone. Talk to me-"
"You don't understand the meaning of the word alone! I've been working on this plan for months now and no one has helped me! Will has been giving me grief all day, the Jims are annoying and I can't stand the sound of The Host's voice anymore-"
Y/N stood still as Dark continued to rant. They knew there was no point in arguing with him. It was his way of letting his emotions out, which tend to get built up because he doesn't like to show his emotions in front of the others. During his rant, he began to subconsciously let tears slide down his face. The tears began to flow more frequently the further he got into his situation. Y/N walked towards their boyfriend as his tears turned into sobs.
"I just can't do it! I need help with this. I need-" He fell to his knees, breaking into sobs. Y/N rushed over to the man on the floor. The echo of his voice and the cracks deteriorated as they wrapped their arms around him as he whispered, "I need help." He gripped onto the back of their shirt, trying to ground himself on his own. His partner rubbed his back as he sobs silently into their shoulder. Y/N began to slowly push the suit jacket off of his shoulders and down his arms to allow him to breath without the restrictive clothing. Whispering into their boyfriends ear words of affection.
"You are safe. I'm here. It's alright. I will protect you."
After a couple of minuets, Dark's breathing went back to normal, his sobs stopped and he was able to regain is composure and get his shell to go back to normal. He looked up to his partner and with red, puffy eyes. "I'm sorry about you're shirt." His voice was scratchy and rough from crying.
"It's okay, darling. It's just a shirt."
"But it's new, I bought you it." Dark sniffed. Never in their life had they seen him so vulnerable. He sniffed again. They smiled fondly and brushed some stray hairs from his forehead and rested their hand on his cheek. He leaned into their palm. Y/N kissed his nose before attempting to stand. They were pulled back down and given a firm kiss to the lips. Dark pulled away and rested his head on Y/N's. "Thank you."
"It's not an issue, you do the same for me."
"I love you." He murmured softly before placing his head in the crook of their neck, placing a quick kiss in the joint between Y/N's neck and shoulder.
"I love you too." Y/N smiled into the tangled mess of Dark's hair, taking in the sent of coffee and his cologne. They place a long kiss on the crown of his head. "Alright then, my king. How about we go get you a tea? How does that sound?" The sound of Dark humming vibrated Y/N's body and the scratch of his stubble caused them to laugh. "I'll take that as a yes."
