Chapter eight

He smiles and scoops up his kid.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
They leave. Malthorn gives me a smile. I smile back. We finish eating. He gets dessert for Lowell. We get the bill that was comped and head home. He packs his stuff and takes it there.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
I go home and go to bed.

The next morning.

Karalin is talking with her friends excitedly. They are also oohing and awing. I smile and go get me some coffee.

Loki's POV

I see Cap sighing sadly. I look over to him.
"What's wrong?"
"Sad."
I nod and plop down beside him.
"I understand."
He smiles sadly. I get a blanket and drop it on him.
"I one hundred percent understand."
He smiles again and says, "thanks."
"No problem."
"I'm glad you understand."
"Why is there someone who doesn't?"
"No, it's just weird."
I nod.

"So now," Cap sings.

But you can leap!" I turn to see Aunt Lumikiki standing and singing, "for all you've done!

"Now do you feel better?"
Cap nods, "and you?"
"Yep."
"Thanks."
"No problem."
I lean back and smile.
"Never thought this would happen!"
He laughs and nods. A guy appears.
"Hello!"
"What do you want?"
"Oh time for it!"

Steve's POV

The guy does something causing my friends—no—my family to disappear. I growl and transform. I lunge at the guy and attack.
"Steve, the staff!"
Before I can do anything it falls to the ground and shatters.
"Oh no!"
She starts to cry softly.
"What—What will we do now?"
"Huh?" I ask.
"I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry about!"
"Huh?"
"You have nothing to be sorry about you are very strong."
She hesitates then says, "I'm glad you think so."
I smile and say, "I know so."
She weakly smiles and sobs softly.

Bucky's POV

I wake up and look around.
"Loki? Man Thing? Living Mummy? Morbius?"
"I'm here," I hear Morbius say weakly. I run over to him.
"Are you okay?"
"I don't know... I'm hurting."
"Let me look at you."
"Okay."
I look him over. No injuries.
"Luckily you're uninjured."
"Where do you think we are?"
"A.I.M."
"What?"
"I don't know what it stands for but from the doorway this is definitely an A.I.M. facility."
"A.I.M. Okay."
"Huff... I don't think the others are here."
"No I can't smell their blood."
I sigh sadly.
"First order of business is find food, right?"
"We can get as much food as we want once we're outta here."
"Fair point... but I'm hungry."
I chuckle and say, "Okay."
Suddenly two trays slide in one with just a thing of blood the other with some food.
"Aww, but I'm hungry not thirsty."
I split the roll and steak. He smiles and eats it. I smile back and eat my half.
"Now let's try to escape!"
I nod and look around the room. There is no exit! We both look at each other.

Loki's POV

I wake up feeling hot. I see Man Thing and Living Mummy. I feel my neck. A shock collar? It goes off sending me to my knees with pain. They just look down. I realize what's going on. We have shock collars, someone has captured us to do work for them. Man Thing sighs softly. Living Mummy seems extremely uncomfortable. I look around again. Egypt... Living Mummy looks over. I nod understanding. I get up weakly.
"It's swelteringly hot out here."
They nod. Living Mummy just looks around.
"I know you don't like this mummy, I understand," I say. He nods weakly and fearfully. Man Thing sighs and gives him a gentle pat. He manages to smile but sobs softly. He sighs and hugs him. I add, "We know you're scared but you have to fight."
He nod weakly.
