"Jackie? Jackie? Darling, it's time to wake up." Jacqueline felt her mother's soft hand caress her small cheek. She, very slowly, opened her eyes to be met with the beautiful blue eyes her mother had. She smiled and then yawned and stretched out her arms.
"Good morning love." Her mum kissed the top of her head.
"Morning."
"You excited for your first day?" Claudette asked as she made her way to Jacqueline's closet to get her uniform ready.
"Yeah, I'm just a bit nervous. What if the other kids don't like me?"
"Jackie don't worry about that. You'll make plenty of friends and everyone will love you. Who could not love those cute cheeks? Plus, you have Roger."
Once Jacqueline was in her uniform, which consisted of a white button-up shirt, a blue with a yellow stitch sweater, a dark blue blazer with the school logo, a blue and yellow argyle print skirt, white socks, and black glossy flats, Claudette brought Jacqueline into the bathroom to comb her hair and brush her teeth.
"Il y a ma fille," Julien said as Jacqueline and Claudette made their way into the kitchen.
A freshly baked chocolate chip scone was placed in front of Jacqueline along with a glass of milk and half of an orange.
Once she was full, she still had half of a scone left which Julien quickly gobbled up.
"You ready ma fille?" Julien asked as he prepared her book bag.
"Oui papa. Bye, mum." Jacqueline got off the stool and made her way to Julien, who was now, getting the triplets ready.
"Bye, my loves. Have an amazing first day. Tell Roger and Clare I said hello." Claudette said as she kissed each and every one of her children on the top of their heads and then gave her husband a thoughtful and loving kiss on the lips.
Julian, Jacqueline, and the triplets made their way to their neighbor's house. Roger immediately drew Jacqueline into a bone-crushing hug in which Jacqueline returned with the same amount of power. Clare came running out and hugged Raphael.
Clare and Raphael have the same relationship as Roger and Jacqueline. They get along really well like they were made to be platonic soulmates.
Julian, first, dropped off the triplets and Clare at daycare not too far from where they all live.
Once they were getting real close to Truro school, Jackie was getting really nervous.
She wasn't really good at talking to new people. She was a very shy girl. Hated being the center of attention and didn't like the idea of talking to new people. She absolutely hated family gatherings because that meant she had to talk to family who said they knew her but she couldn't remember them so that made for awkward conversations.
Anyways, she felt tears forming, and her vision blurred. She couldn't do this. She didn't want to leave her dad.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong?" Julian was on one knee and holding her face in the palm of his hands.
"I don't want to go. I can't go. I want to stay with you." She felt a smaller hand wrap around her hand and immediately knew it was Roger.
Her Roggie.
He was always there for her. Every time she scraped her knee on the pavement, he was there with a plaster. Every time she fell, he was there to pick her up. Every time she was scared, he was their to make her laugh. Of course he was there. She didn't have to worry, because what ever happens, he's there to make it all better.
"Hey, don't cry my beautiful girl. You are going to be ok. I love you so, so, soooooo much. You are going to be just fine and when the school day is over, Winnie will be here and you can tell her all about your day and then, at exactly 5:00, you'll be able to tell me all about your day. You don't have anything to worry about love. Okay?" Julien kissed the top of her head.
Jackie nodded and then giggled when Julien tickled her belly.
They walked the rest of the way to the gates where they said their goodbyes and Julien left.
Roger and Jackie kept their hands laced together as they made their way through the front yard. Roger smiled at her, his blue eyes glistened from the sun's natural glow. Jackie returned the smile and laughed when Roger made a silly face.
Once they were in the canteen, they looked around for any available seating, and the only place that was open was next to a boy and girl. Both looked to be their age. The boy had pale skin, bright green eyes, and blond hair. The girl had tan skin, chocolate brown eyes, and dark brown hair.
Roger and Jackie hesitated but made their way over to the table.
"Can we sit here?" Roger asked, tightening his grip on Jacqueline's hand.
"Of course." The girl said. "I'm Nancy, Nancy Barns and this is my friend Leslie Bennett but he hates his name so call him Les." The girl, Nancy, introduced.
"Hi, I'm Roger Taylor and this is my bestest friend in the whole entire world, Jaqueline Avril."
"Hi."Jackie said, her shyness really showing.
"Hello. So you guys year 2?" Les asked
"Yeah." Roger said
"Same, ooh we can be great friends." Nancy said
The day went on. Jackie LOVED it. She didn't know why she was so nervous. It took some getting use to of course. Her, Nancy, Les, and Roger became great friends in a split second. They also were all in the same form which made it easier for them to talk. They even got to sit at the same table together. Their teacher was so nice and gave them each a sweet when they did something good. Her classes were fun too. She didn't mind maths and she loved her outside classes which included exploring the wilderness and gardening.
Even though she had a great day, she couldn't wait to get home and tell her parents all about the day she had.
Her and Roger, of course, told Winnie every single detail of the day. Winnie just laughed and bought them both ice creams for a celebration. What were they celebrating? Winnie didn't know.
At 5:00 o'clock on the dot, Jackie said her goodbyes to the Taylors and ran home and straight into Julien's arms.
"How was your day ma belle?" He asked as he squeezed her like if he let go, she would disappear.
"It was amazing, we..." she went into full details on how she met her 2 new friends and about her teacher and her classes. What her classroom looked like and she showed him her drawing she did during art.
"I knew you would be ok. I told you, you didn't have anything to worry about."
"I know, I love you papa."
"I love you too ma belle. Now, go practice piano before your mum gets home."
