1962-"I love you, Jackie."

I look at myself through the mirror. Today is Halloween. The scariest day of the year.

This year, Roger and I decided on going as Hansel and Gretal.

My costume was simple. I had a white shirt with wavy sleeves. A red dress that had black lace running through the v-neck of the dress. I had a white apron on which fit perfectly around my waist. My hair was in Dutch braids and I had a red bandanna on top of my head. My shoes were brown flats and I had socks.

I really loved this costume and just hoped my mum wouldn't make me change. I love her dearly, but she is so overprotective and very serious about modesty.

Anyways, I give myself one last look before I head downstairs. My mum sits on the couch knitting.

"Bonjour mère." I said as I made my way towards the kitchen to get a drink.

"Hold on, let me see you costume." She took her eyes off the half knitted scarf.

"I'm Gretal." I spun around.

"Ooh it's lovely, but I would wear those white tights I bought you. It's a bit windy out and you don't want that to blow up you dress." She explains.

"Alrighty." I sigh, knowing she would make me do something to my costume.

I grab a glass and fill it up with cranberry juice and then grab an apple and make my way back into my room. I quickly put on the white tights and slide my shoes back on. The tights actually didn't look that bad.

I took a sip of my juice while I sat down at my desk and try to finish my homework. After about 10 minutes, I hear a knock on my bedroom door.

"Come in!" Nancy walks in wearing a leopard print body suit and had her face painted with cat ears.

"Well hello Jackie. You look great." She said

"You look great as well. I like the ears."

We talk for a while, while listening to the album 'King Creole'.

Once the sun set, Nance and I decided that we should head over to Roger's.

I grabbed my pillow case and a flashlight and we left. 

"Hello girls." Winnie greeted us at the door.

"Hello Winnie."

"Hello Mrs. Winnie." Nancy said

"The boys are upstairs. Ooh, you guys are so cute. Lovely costumes." Winnie cooed.

I knocked on the door and heard a 'come in'.

Once I walked in I saw Roger sitting on the edge of his bed. He was wearing brown shorts with green string sewed threw the pockets. He had brown suspenders and a cream button up shirt. He had a green hat on with a red feather. He had knee high socks and brown ankle high boots. He looked absolutely adorable.

Les was sitting in the beanbag in the corner of the room. He was wearing brown shorts with a cream shirt that had 6 leather pockets and it said 'zookeeper'. He had black boots and a flappy sun hat on.

If you couldn't tell, we were pairing. Roger and I. Les and Nancy.

"Nancy, lovely outfit. Jackie, you are just to adorable." Roger said

"Thank you Rog." Nancy says while walking over to Les.

"So Jackie, Les and I decided that we should split up and see who can get the most candy. You want too?" Roger asked me

"Uh yeah. I'm guessing I'm with you." I pointed to Rog

"Yes love."

We started to head out after that. Les and Nancy turned right and Roger and I turned left. The first house gave us a curlywurly bar. The next have us wine gum.
