Alex stuck out their tongue as they started to draw with a white marker on their wall, they had to rush as this was a project for their art class that was meant to be due the next day, Alex backed away from the wall and admired their work, their wall was black and was perfect to draw stars on as well as a matraite above them.
they rushed to their polaroid camera and put it in a position that would get the whole wall in, they put a 5 second timer on and pressed the button, they rushed back to were they where standing and started counting down the seconds.

they looked back at the camera and blinked out as the white light filled the room for a second, they rushed back to their camera and smiled as they saw it come out the camera. they shook it and watch the picture appear.
Alex liked the result of it, they looked amazing, their white hoodie worked well with the background, their black jeans made it seem that they just had a torso and their skin was flawless, no spots or acne in sight. it annoyed their friends how effortless they could be about their appearance and still look amazing.
Alex put it down the picture on their drawers and let out a yawn, they streached their arms behind them as they did so, they were about to lie down on their bed but their little sister came in, she was 13, 2 years younger then Alex, they both shared their fathers eyes, a dark chocolate brown colour but unlike Alex she had light brown skin while Alex had Dark brown skin, they shared the same black coloured hair but hers was coily while Alex's have tight curls.
"Yeah?" Alex asked, slightly annoyed as all older siblings are when their younger ones come in their room to pester them.
"Dad and mum wants you" She said, she glanced at the new artwork on the wall and looked back at her sibling. "did you do that?"
"No, I left the window open and the Fairy god mother did it" Alex said. "course I did it, Lil"
"Alright, no need to be sarcastic" Lily said rolling her eyes. "just hurry up, their in the living room"
Lily took her leave and as usual failed to close the door behind her, Alex groaned and left their room, they made their way down the stairs, trying to ignore the baby photos and the family pictures down the stairwell, those pictures always annoyed them. They jumped the last 2 steps and headed towards the living room.
They entered the living room and saw their parents, quietly talking to each other but when they noticed the young person watching them they stopped and ushered them to sit on the sofa that was across from them.
"Alex, you know we love you, right?" Alex's father said, Alex did that weird breath thing when you find something a funny.
"course I do" Alex said, Alex's step-mum took a deep breathe before speaking.
"Your father and I need to tell you about your mother" Alex's step-mother took their fathers hand into hers and gave it a squeeze, she hated talking about Alex's mother. "We think it's about time you know the truth about her"
"Your mother and I met when I just turned 20, I was working at a popular flower shop and she walked in one day and ordered the biggest bouquet of flowers that I had done, she was the most stunning person I had ever seen" he glanced at his wife and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze "We ended up going on a few dates and then on the last one ended up with you"
"as much as I love hearing about this amazing love story" Alex said sarcastically playing with their hoodie string. " I rather not know how you met a women that has never been in my life"
"When she gave you to me she told me who she was" Alex's dad continued without acknowledging what Alex said "she told me that she was a goddess, at first I though she has joking but then she warned me to be carful"
Alex stared at the two adults in front of them as if they were crazy but they didn't offer any indication this was a really shit prank they decided to pull of their child.
"Right, so that makes me what? A demigod?" Alex raised one of their eyebrows. "am I going to be the next Heracles?"
"Alex I know this sounds mad, I didn't believe I until the first one came." Their dad said, letting out a sigh.
"what came?" Alex asked, still not believing this to be true at all.
"the monsters, it first came when you were three, I don't even know how it found you, they aren't meant to find you till you become at least 12" He said, shaking his head.
"I'm not listening to this, its a load of crap" Alex said standing up but their father caught their hand and stopped them from going further.
"Alex this isn't a joke or a lie, we're telling you the truth. We're sending you to a place where you'll be safe" Their father said letting go of their hand and letting their child run out the room and into their room.
"you did the right thing Liam" Alex's step-mum said, giving him a small hug.
"I know" he said with a sigh
