We wander around the woods for a while now. The cold breeze makes me shiver, we passed through stores, apartments, and restaurants—now desolated and mixed with the tall trees and plants. The old roads and the forest floor are still wet, I still have this feeling that we're not alone in here.
I saw something or someone hiding behind one of the windows of a ruined apartment... it's a sniper! "Get down!" I shouted and tackled her down, the deafening gunshot hurts my ears, "Through here!" I grabbed her paw and entered a pharmacy on our left and took cover behind the shelves and crouched.
"Oh shit! There's more!" Chase said as she took a peek outside the window, I saw them too. We're ambushed!
"They went over there!" The sniper shouted, "Fuck, fuck!" I murmured, chase started to hyperventilate. I took out my shotgun and reloaded it swiftly, I spotted a dead leopard sitting on the ground leaning on a shelf with a bow lying beside him. I have a couple of arrows on my backpack, but not a bow.
All of my guns are almost out of ammo, Chase only has a pistol, my rifle only has two, my shotgun three, and my pistol five.
The sniper is facing at the front pharmacy window waiting for me to come out, "Jack, enter the left entrance. Daniels go right!" The sniper commanded.
Shit, I'm surrounded. "Chase, defend the entrance on our right, I'll get the bow coming from the left." she nodded, I jumped to the next shelf, a deafening gunshot echoes and a glass shatter with a bullet landing to the floor close to me, he missed!
The dead leopard is just one more jump away, I hear footsteps coming to the entrance close to me, my shotgun and my paws are shaking, and my chest pounds—I'm scared of what's coming...
I saw a shadow moving closer in the distance, I aimed my shotgun as soon as he appears. "Daniels, he's taking cover behind that shelf!" The sniper warned, "Shit." I whispered, a skunk appeared in front of me, he gasped and aimed with his rifle.
We shot each other at the same time, I got shot on the shoulder and groaned—the skunk was pushed back by the blast and fell to the ground.
He started to jerk and gurgled with blood spitting out then made his last sob. I grunt from pain as I cover my bleeding shoulder with my paw and shed some tears. Since this is a pharmacy, there must be something I could use to stop the bleeding.
I jumped to the last shelf and reached the leopard, I swipe his bow and draw an arrow out of my bag. "You'll pay for that!" The sniper shouted and tried to shoot me again, but still misses.
I found a rolled bandage laying on the floor, but it's exposed to the window—it's risky. I jumped to an adjacent shelf that's close to the window, the sniper shot my leg with the bullet piercing out, I screamed in pain.
"Darwin!" Chase shouted as I groaned and collapsed to the floor, then tried to grab the first aid swiftly. He shot again, and almost shot my exposed paw, I gasped and stopped reaching it—my heart pounded even more, then tried again but swifter—I successfully got it.
I pulled out the bullet stuck on my shoulder with my teeth gritting, and groaned trying to cope with the pain. I wrapped the bandage around the shoulder and cut the excess with my teeth, then wrapped my bleeding left leg.
After healing my wounds with the bandage, I sat on the floor—whimpering from the stinging and sobbed like a fucking wolf pup.
I started to feel weak and tired, I fell to the cold and musty floor once again. Chase gasped as she saw me lying there, "I'm coming!" I jolted and gasped as I look at her coming for me. "Wait, no! Stay back!" I warned, but it was too late. The loud gunshot pierced through the window and got her—she fell to the floor as I am. "Chase!" I screamed, "I got one!" The sniper cheered.
