"Mom! I'll be outside!" I called out took the spare batteries from the table just in case and quickly went outside, not waiting for a reply. I only heard a faint 'Be careful, come home early!' before the rest was mumbles that I can't hear. I giggled and skipped through the soil and leaves of the large forest that we're staying in for a while. The Forest was green and peaceful as always. I could see bird nests, Raccoons and Squirrels running on the branches, A few insects crawling on the ground and snails leaving slime across the path. Leaves being carried by the wind, Large birds gliding around, the sun hitting the trees creating a scenery that my eyes will behold for the rest of my life.
I wish i could live like this forever. Too bad forever doesn't exist, Only in novels and fan fictions i used to read when i was a teenager. My boots continued hitting the brown, soily path taking me to who knows where. On the way, I saw a stick, grabbed it and started poking random things near me while i walk through the green, mysterious sanctuary, Whether be it a tree bark, a shrub, Newts, Frogs or another slimy snail. Then suddenly, The stick hit something hard. It wasn't a tree, nor a rock. If it was, then it shouldn't've made a clinging sound.
I looked at it and brushed the moss off. Steel.
And steel means its either a fence of a large building, or the large building itself. I looked around and just noticed where the forest path dragged me, either i was too spaced out to not notice, or I'm just plain stupid. I was in front of a large, abandoned factory. It looks too old for me to not include the word 'abandoned'. It looks like no one is here anyway. Moss covered the fence and the whole structure, Thick vines hugged its white steel walls, Trees had grown out of it and it's being used as a home by a few small creatures that i can see from where I'm standing.
There were a few red signs that said 'Keep out' or a few yellow ones that said 'experiment on going' or 'Stay away'. I don't even listen to my parents, What are these signs gonna do? I gripped the stick and started to climb over the fences. After a few moments of struggling because of the moss and the insects trying to climb up my hand, I finally set my boots over the fence. Fuck my curiosity. This is gonna end my life one day, I swear.
I looked at the rusty building in front of me. I looked back as if I'm having second thoughts. I Inhaled sharply and continued on walking forward. I strolled towards the glass doors as it creaked when i opened it. Inside was a laboratory with a wide variety of machines that i haven't seen before. It was small compared to the outside, Maybe because most of the space was occupied by wiring and stuff about machines.
As I went further, I noticed there are large screens and a few levers, smaller screens and a few buttons just below it. It seems that they're watching something from that screen, Someone inside a room perhaps? Maybe it's like in the movies where they have a test subject and they're doing something on him. Testing a drug maybe? Or could be that the test subject is crazy and needs to be monitored for a research. The signs outside did mention about experiments ongoing.
I walked further into the building, Darkness starting to wrap around me. I looked down, hoping to see a flashlight and thank goodness i found one. I took the batteries out of my pocket. See? I knew it would come in handy. I inserted the batteries and switch the flashlight on, making the path in front of me visible. It was a dark long hallway with a few steel doors, Broken line of lights at the middle of the ceiling with a few moss hanging from it. At the end of it were double doors that I assumed were open. If i compare the outer part of this building, I'd say that this part is cleaner. A lot cleaner.
I Gathered all my courage and started strolling slowly down the dark path. I gasped when i stepped on something slippery. I pointed the flashlight at it and made a disgusted sound when i saw it was slime, oozing out from the steel door. Okay, I take back the word i thought earlier. This is disgusting. As i walked in further, My nose hit a foul smell which made me scrunch up. I could feel my puke on the back of my throat but i stopped it and took out my handkerchief to cover my nose. It didn't block the stench fully but at least it lessened. I passed through 16 more steel doors (Yes, i counted it. All of them had slime oozing at the small opening at the very bottom and i realized that the slime was the one to create the stinky smell. Yes, it was fucking disgusting.) before i stopped in the front of the double doors.
The stench was stronger than ever and i doubt that i'd be alive if i remove the handkerchief off of my nose. I pushed it open and gasped when i saw what was behind. It was hundred of human test tubes, all of it had fetuses inside. Yes, undeveloped humans are inside and they were pulsing like a heartbeat. Behind those were two large tanks with a warning sign painted on it. Also, the stench was so strong i felt dizzy. This is worse than garbage cans.
I walked towards a test tube and looked at the fetus. It was curled up, Pulsing slowly. It was veiny and a bit pinkish. Okay, this dosen't sound disgusting for the some of you but trust me, It looks puke-worthy. The tanks are the one who gives them what they need i suppose. Air? No. they're on green, glowing water. Toxic shit? Probably. I looked at the other fetuses and noticed that there were long, wiggling things coming out of them. Okay, whatever those wiggly things are will haunt me forever. I pointed the flashlight at it and noticed that they were worms. I scrunched up my face in disgust. I'd rather touch a bunch of roaches than to see more than 5 long worms, wiggling their way out of a pulsing fetus.
This is really disgusting.
