Was Once Wonderful

Chapter 6

(From this chapter on, it will be 3rd person's POV)

Yuuki woke up with a dull feeling. It was the day where they will start the attack. She did her best to get out of bed and start the day with a training but she can't help but mourn for her other friends. Freya was someone who she used to observe with on the Winter terrain. She and her Hybrid Valkyrie used to play in the snow with her and Sattang. Her final goodbye was met with a smile and a happy hug. She told her to not mourn for her because they will probably meet again but not in this timeline. Yuuki could feel her heart get heavier with the memories of her other comrades. She went downstairs and greeted Chewie with a kiss on the forehead. She walked towards the kitchen and made herself coffee, hearing the trumpet outside, signalling for the troops to get in position. The cobalt-haired girl bit her lip and wiped her tears quickly. Chewie noticed her sadness and hopped down the couch, walking towards Yuuki and nudging her hand with her snout.

With that, Yuuki broke into a smile and caressed Chewie's head gently. She kneeled down in front of the canine and hugged her neck. "What am i gonna gonna do without you?" She mumbled through her thick fur. Chewie was sure that she didn't understand what Yuuki said but it made her happy. She wagged her tail and panted happily. Yuuki giggled at her and ruffled her fur again, standing up and pouring the coffee on her mug.

The trumpet was blown once more, signalling the departure of the troops. Yuuki sighed and sipped her coffee, leaning on the kitchen counter while staring into nothing.

"Yow, Yuuki!"

The cobalt haired girl choked at her coffee because of Sage and Addy's sudden appearance. She hammered her fist on her chest and coughed a few times before she regained her posture, staring at Sage and Addy incredulously. "Can you NOT barge in without knocking and shouting? You are gonna kill me with either heart attack or choking." Yuuki growled at the both of them. Addy just giggled and sat on the dining table. "We came here to spend time with each other! we really didn't get to know each other that much because we're so busy with these bullshit missions and stuff but this is the right time to do it!" Addy said cheerfully.

"And the perfect time is when we're gonna die?" Yuuki deadpanned the girl. Addy laughed nervously and scratched her nape. "Hey! At least we got to know each other today than never!" Sage defended Addy. Yuuki rolled her eyes and just took another sip of her coffee. "Since Addy suggested it, why don't you start?" Yuuki took another sip of her coffee. Addy pouted and scooted further into the Dinner table, crossing her legs and crossing her arms.

"Aha! Why don't we take turns on saying one fact about ourselves until we tell each other all of it?" Addy suggested again, her eyes beaming with happiness. "I don't even know my self suddenly when someone asks me my name." Yuuki deadpanned again, taking another sip of her coffee. Sage looked at her as her eye twitched in annoyance. "Can you just-- STOP ruining the fun?" Sage hissed at the cobalt haired girl who shrugged and took another sip of the coffee. "You're still first Addy." Yuuki sipped one more time before looking at her mug and gulping the rest of the coffee.

"I have an older brother." Addy said and looked at Sage, waiting for her to say anything. "My name was supposed to be Princess." Yuuki burst out in laughter while she was washing her mug. Sage groaned and rolled her eyes. "Just Imagine someone as cool looking at you and your name is Princess!" Yuuki laughed and kneeled down in front the sink, feeling her knees weaken from laughter. "Yah! Don't laugh!" Sage pouted and crossed her arms like a kid, looking at Yuuki who is now on the floor laughing. After exactly 15 minutes of Yuuki's Infective windshield wiper laugh making Addy laugh because of her laugh, she stopped. Yuuki wiped her tears and rinsed the mug and her hands, thinking of something that she can tell her friends. "I forgot a whole 3 years of my life." Sage looked at her, bewildered.

"What do you mean?"

"You know how you just remember that you're 17 and then suddenly you're already 21?" Yuuki looked at them with furrowed brows. Addy nodded her head. Yuuki gestured for Addy to speak which made the girl tap her chin and hum while thinking. "I--hmm.. I was never close with my Mom."

The day quickly passed by, the 3 girls knowing each other much deeper and now they're hanging out on the walls, looking at the sunset. They sat in comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company for the last time before they get on their duels with Demetron's three Superiors tomorrow. It was scheduled by the Commander and Rick.

"Who.. Who goes first tomorrow?" Yuuki asked, not tearing her eyes away from the mid circle's trees. Zombies gathered below them, trying to reach them with no success. "Sage." Silence once more. Addy looked at Yuuki who was stopping her tears with failure. "Hey, hey. Don't cry." Sage scooted towards the crying girl who just cried even harder. "Hey now, don't cry. I thought we talked about this?" Sage tried cheering her up but it was no use. The girl continued to sob almost endlessly. Sage sighed and pulled her head towards her chest, also trying to stop her own tears from coming. Addy looked at them sadly and moved beside Yuuki and hugged her side, feeling her tears fall down from her eyes as well.

After Yuuki had calmed down, they sat together on the top of the wall silently once more. They sat down there until the moon showed itself with the stars. "We have to get back. I have to wake up early to train for the last time." Sage nudged the now half asleep Yuuki. Her eyes were rolling at the back of her head because of sleepiness. Addy laughed at her shook her awake, The cobalt haired girl snapping her head up and looking around. She rubbed the sleep off of her eyes and stretched her limbs.

And thus, they're only waiting for tomorrow, the next day and the day after that. Counting down from 1 2 3 in form of days, Yuuki can only wait for friday. She only has to wait for 2 days before she can see them again.

Before she can see her again.

It put a bitter smile across her lips as her head hit the pillow. She looked at Chewie and smiled at her. Chewie walked towards her owner and laid down the bed beside her, curling up and closing her eyes.

Yuuki let out a sigh and hugged Chewie's furry body and falling into a dull, dreamless slumber.
