I also don't know anything about St Andrews so I'm making it up. I if you have suggestions please tell me.This is also the longest chapter. Sorry for the long authors note so without further adu I present to you chapter 4😉.
"Wow, it's so big and crowed." gasped Alicia.
"Come on, don't stand there gaping all day, it's freezing and I don't want to miss the first day because I have caught a cold ." replied Sally shivering slightly as the winter wind bit at her cold skin. Slowly, they made their way to what seemed like a hall but filled with staircases, doors and corridors to go to diiferent places.
" Where do we go? "asked Betty as she stared around.
" Your guess is as good as mine. "muttered Darrel, " Let's go up this staircase. Everyone's going there with night bags so it must be going somewhere right. "
" You have a point! "replied Alicia.
Slowly they made their way up the staircase into a wide bright corridor with creme white halls. A door at the end of the corridor had a golden sign in swirly letters saying San. Girls and boys were going in and out.
" I think we hand in our health certificate there." Darrel said breaking the silence.
"Here goes nothing." replied Sally cheerfully masking the fear and uncertainty in her voice.
Slowly Alicia pushed the door open and they found themselves in a white large hall with a little desk and cupboards filled with stacks of paper and medicines. Underneath the desk, there was an open safe where a tall, slim, lady with long, blonde hair and a very no-nonsense-attitude, which they all assumed was matron, was putting in health certificates. Darrel took a deep breath and said "Miss, we have our health certificates." Everyone turned round and stared. "My dear girl, you are in university, your health certificates are for you. I'm taking medication." she said, then turned round and faced Alicia, Darrel, Sally and Betty. "What are your names." she asked looking down at her clipboard.
"I'm Darrel Rivers."
"I'm Sally Hope. "
I'm Alicia John's. "
I'm Betty Hill. "
" The new girls from Malory Towers, you've gone very far form Cornwall to Scotland. Anyways you share a room with 2 people Darrel and Sally you have room 152 while Betty and Alicia have room 153 now off you go. The rooms are at the top floor, here are your keys. "said Matron and handed each of them a a pair of keys.
Swiftly the girls made thier way up to a narrow corridor on the highest floor, it had a gold coloured walls and dark magohony doors. There were 10 doors with a silver sign on each. The signs had the numbers of the room. "Alicia, Betty we'll meet you back here in a while we're going to check our room out." announced Sally.
"See you in a while." replied Alicia cheerfully.
Once Darrel and Sally found their room they were at the end of the corridor. "Come on." muttered Sally. Slowly they unlocked the door and pushed it open, inside there was a room with 2 large cream white and sofas, 2 wooden desks with paper and pencils, a warm fluffy white rug and a wooden bookshelf with some books. On the far side there were 2 doors. While they stood their gaping
the door behind them opened and opened and flustered looking matron came in. " Oh dear girls I've given you the wrong room."she said. Quickly she looked at her clipboard and mutters a few words which were so quiet neither Sally or Darrel could understand." Well it turns out your going to have the is room to yourselves girls don't get used to it. Usually it goes to the teachers.Don't make me regret my decision." she swept away and left the girls standing there shocked. "Wow!" murmered Sally . She walked carefully as if not to disturb the room and opened one of the doors a large double bed stood. Two bedside tables were on either side with a tall lamp. On the far side of the room a large wooden closet leaned on the stone wall. Next to it a vanity table. The quilts were rough and thick but there colour made them the best Sally had ever seen. They were a deep, mesmerising blue just like the sea outside of the window thrashing fiercely in the wild Scottish coast. Darrel in the meantime had gone to the other room. It was exactly the same apart from the quilt was a rich redish brown colour and the window faced a large empty Moor filled with Heather, brambles and rabbit paths. A few goats and horses walked around lazily and nibbled on the heather.
