Our first fight

Your POV

"This, is a pearl point! They are awarded for punctuality, perseverance and positivity. We may be smaller and weaker than our opponents, but with these three p's, we have the keys to success!"

You sat criss cross applesauce with Steven on your left and the puzzle artifact from yesterday on your lap. "Today, we will be fighting holo pearls. You're awarded a pearl point for each one you manage to destroy...and (y/n), don't push your fire too hard, you just might pass out." You share a look with Steven and get up excitedly.

As pearl goes out to summon her holo pearls you clear your throat and focus on the heat stewing inside, your body glowed brighter, as you open your eyes and blast fire into one of its holes. It's moving parts swivel as it floats from your hands, jingling and chiming about. "We need something to call this thing..." you say, trying to move it with your mind without using too much power.

"How about Bella? It's short, and it chimes like a bell." Steven pips. "That's perfect! Thanks Steven!" Your cut off by pearl announcing the holo pearls were ready. "On your Mark, get set...GO!" Steven jumps forward straight to the pearls with his shield in hand. You on the other hand, keep your distance for the time being. You wanted to get used to using Bella.

You extend your arms as her flames flare moving towards a small group of five pearls. You grunt as you try to make Bella do something to them. Soon, Bella jingles loudly and spits fire at the pearls. "Defeat- defeat- accepted!!" Their voices overlapped. Bella took down four of them, before swiftly returning to hover next to your head. As she hovered there you realized she was staying by you on her own without your power.

You summoned your hammer, no longer distracted by controlling Bella. You slam it into the ground to rile yourself up for this battle. You ran up to the last pearl, 10 feet away, you sling your hammer around to your right side and swing it to the left. You jump at the same time causing you to spin in the air.

While spining counter clockwise, you start to drag your right shoulder towards the ground, doing a skewed flip. As your reaching the peak of your flip, you slammed your hammer down on the holographic pearl. "Defeat accepted!" You stick your landing, gasping for air. You've never done anything so badass in your life. It was thrilling. You had no idea you could even do such a thing. "Five pearl points for (y/n)! You're a natural!!"

You look back at pearl and the board behind her to see five stickers next to your name. But Steven already had 13. "WHAT?!" You whip your head over to Steven. He was holding one shield, as another one sliced through two more pearls before returning to him. "How did you do that?!" "Boomerang shield!" "How does that even work?! It's not even shaped like a boomerang!!" Steven falters at the thought. He wasn't so sure himself. "Maybe I'm just controlling it on accident? I can't tell-oof!"

Steven is flung into a wall as a pearl kicks him in the stomach. Holy crap that was a scary kick. "Steven!! Are you ok?!" The smoke cleared as you saw Steven in a spiky bubble. "I'm fine, little lime..-behind you!" Bella jingles next to you as you turn around, she blasts the pearl away with a large bout of green fire. "Defeat accepted!" "That was close...thanks, Bella!" She jingles as you pat the carved ball.

You quite liked this little thing. It was like a pet, personality and all. Not to mention its chimes were cute and soothing. Steven came up behind you. "You good?" You ask. "Being here with you? Of course I am." You glow brighter. Nows not the time to flirt. Holo pearls were closing in on you both. Suddenly, on instinct you grab Bella and throw her into the crowd. She jingles rampantly, angry at you for being so rude. "IM SO SORRYYYY!!"

In response, she flares up into a little jingling fireball of terror. She zips through the pearls, piercing them with her speed and heat. You count 16 that she zips through and destroys before she starts returning to you. She slows down drastically and jingles softly. Her flame goes out as the ball collapses to the floor in front of you. You didn't feel drained at all. Did Bella do that on her own? Or am I doing this naturally? This is what Steven meant. Using power without even thinking about it. Steven threw his shield and picked off the last 6 holo pearls.
