Catra's POV
Adora and I sit down with Lady Lorana and discuss the adoption of Romula and Remus. She tells us all about the twins. They're four years old, Romula is five minutes older than Remus, they were abandoned on the front doorstep of the orphanage as infants, and Romula is extremely overprotective of her brother cause the other kids bully him for his stutter.
"They're good kids, but they are a bit of a challenge. You'll have to be patient with them. It'll take time for Remus to warm up to you and for Romula to trust you." Lady Lorana said.
"That's fine. We never expected this to be easy." Adora said.
"So, can we meet them now?" she asked.
"Yes, I'll go get them." Lady Lorana said standing up and walking out of the room.
She returns with Romula and Remus. They looked so cute with their white fur, grey hair and tails, and black ears. They also had beautiful golden eyes.
"Oh my gosh!! They're sooooo cuuuuute!!" Adora said immediately hugging the twins.
The sudden hug startles them, making Remus yelp and Romula growl.
"Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Adora apologized.
"So...what? Did you just decide to pity us? Because we're poor little orphan twins, and adopting us will make you look like some sort of hero? Is that it?" Romula said.
"Woah, Catra, you were right, this one is spunky." Adora replied.
"No, sweetie, we're not pitying you. Me and my wife want to adopt you and your brother, because we think you'd be perfect for us. At least give us a chance." she told Romula.
"Um, okay....Remus, what do you think?" Romula asked her brother.
"Th-they seem n-nice." Remus mumbled shyly.
"Fine...we'll give you a shot. Just...stop looking so desperate." Romula said folding her arms across her chest.
"Yay! Don't worry, you'll be so happy with us." Adora said.
While Adora talked with the twins, I filled out my share of the paperwork. Then we switched, Adora filling out paperwork while I talk with the twins.
"Alright, all that's left to do is to get your home prepared for these two and you'll be able to take them home." Lady Lorana told us.
"Okay, we'll do that. Bye, Remus; bye, Romula, see you guys soon." I said ruffling their hair.
"Bye bye, my little puppies." Adora said.
"Don't call us that." Romula replied pouting grumpily.
When Adora and I got home, we instantly begin to make a list of the things we'll need to prepare our home for our new son and daughter.
"Okay, the list is done, let's go shopping." I said.
"We're gonna need some help, this is a lot of stuff." Adora said.
Scorpia and Perfuma help us get all the stuff we need and set it up in the spare room, which will now be Romula and Remus's room.
"Oh, this is so exciting! First, Glimmer and Bow are pregnant, and now Catra and Adora are adopting twins. Our little princess-alliance family is just getting bigger and bigger!" Perfuma said smiling widely.
"Ya know, if you ever need a babysitter, I happily volunteer." Scorpia said to me.
"Ooh, ooh, me too!" Perfuma added excitedly.
"Sorry, ladies, but I'm sure I'm the go-to babysitter here." Swiftwind said.
"Sorry to all of you, but Frosta already called dibs on babysitter." I told them.
"What!? Not fair!" Swiftwind replied outraged.
"Yeah, she's already Spinerella and Netossa's babysitter!" Scorpia whined.
"And Seahawk and Mermista's." Perfuma pouted.
"What's next...is she gonna be Glimmer and Bow's babysitter too?" Swiftwind asked.
"Maybe." Adora answered.
Scorpia, Swiftwind, and Perfuma groan. By the end of the day, Romula and Remus's room was complete.
"Wow, the room looks great, Catra." Adora said wrapping an arm around me.
"Yeah...it does. I can't wait for Romula and Remus to see it." I said leaning my head against Adora's shoulder.
"I hope they like us." I said.
"Everything will work out just fine, Catra. All we gotta do is try our best." Adora said, kissing my head.
Tired after this long day, Adora and I go to bed. I had a little trouble sleeping, I kept thinking about...everything. About the adoption, about how it could all go right...or how it could all go wrong. I really really hope everything goes right. I know Adora will be a good mom, but will I be? I guess I'll just have to figure it out as I go. The next morning, Mermista video called us to ask us how the adoption was going.
"It's going great, we just got their room finished." I told her.
"Their? You're getting two?" Mermista asked.
"Yes. They're really cute wolf twins named, Romula and Remus." Adora answered.
Then we heard an off camera groan come from Mermista's side of the video call.
"What was that?" I asked.
"*sigh* Someone ate wayyy too much candy and now has a tummy ache." Mermista replied.
"Aww, poor Caspian." Adora frowned sympathetically.
"Nope...poor Seahawk." Mermista corrected.
"Oh." Adora replied.
"Yeah, that makes more sense." I said.
"Mama! Daddy's face is green!" Caspian shouted offscreen.
"Gotta go." Mermista said quickly before ending the video call.
"Ya know, suddenly I don't feel so insecure about being a parent anymore. If that idiot can be a...functional parent, surely I can." I said setting the trackerpad aside.
A few more days of preparation, and we were finally ready to bring Romula and Remus home with us. From this day on, Adora and I are moms. God, I hope I don't screw this up.
