The Past and Present

Nightmares are a funny thing. We can start having them from a young age, and for most of us we grow out of these thoughts of scary monsters and the boogie man. As adults, our minds are filled with responsibilities and obligations, wanting to keep those we love safe, and doing the little things day by day to keep us happy.

As adults, we become tired. Our bodies and our minds, occupied and never stopping. Sleep, is sometimes our only sanctuary in which we escape those bottomless worries and simply melt into a land of pure bliss.
For most, that is. Unfortunately for some, sleep isn't a grace, but a curse.

Yoongi stood in a large, dark area, surrounded by flashes of memories, dreams, nightmares. His happiest thoughts to his darkest realities. They all lay before him like moving pictures.
He wandered along them, confused as to why his mind chose to rest in such a lucid state. He couldn't help but stop at a familiar scene. Him and his brother, playing in the field by their house. Playfully fighting as usual.

"Hyung! Give it back!" The small boy jumped up and down, trying his best to grasp the wooden, toy wand his brother made float high above him.

"Come on Yoonie, use some magic to get it back!" The elder teased, only to stop laughing as a firm whack followed by a loud splash was delivered to the back of his head.

"Quit bullying him Kihyun," the eldest daughter rolled her eyes as she flicked droplets of water between her fingers, "he's only little."

The youngest boy, who was holding back his laughter, ran over and hugged his eldest sisters legs. Said girl then held and expectant hand out, to which Kihyun begrudgingly handed over the toy wand.
"You're too protective of him Sora-Noona, he has to discover his powers someday! Even Adora had her powers by now!" He whined like the 10 year old he was.

Sora, at the time aged 15, could only laugh and ruffle her brothers hair before handing the wand off to the child hanging by her legs.
"Kihyunie, you only discovered your powers a month ago. Yoonie is only 5, he has lots of time to grow, isn't that right buddy?"

Said boy giggled and held his wand out like a master witch would, "Imma have really good powers and pwotect the whole family!"

Despite his teasing, Kihyun was very soft for his baby brother, and could only laugh and lift the smaller up onto his hip, "oh yeah? Well what about all your Hyungs and Noonas? We're busy protecting you, what will we do if you steal our job?"

The little Yoongi held a finger against his chin in animated thought, "well... umm... You can help me! We can keep eomma and appa safe! And the n-n-animals!" He gestured his arms wildly to indicate their large fields of livestock.

The trios cute moment was interrupted as their middle sister Suran called them, "Guys! Eommas said it's time to wash up for dinner! Channie-Hyung made fresh bread and juice for us!"

Yoongi smiled at the fond memory, his eldest sister Sora had always been so protective. Understandable with their 10 year age gap, she took a maternal role in Yoongis upbringing. Kihyun always teased Yoongi, but in the most innocent fashion. As the pair got older and stronger, Kihyun grew to protect and respect his brother more.

Playful screams and loud laughter caught the witches attention. Another memory stood waiting in the distance. It was one where he and his sisters Suran and Adora were dancing between the crops. They were older now, Yoongi was probably 1o or so he guessed by the way his hair was awfully left unkept and wild. Adora, his best friend and closest sibling, scolding her elder sister for avoiding their work and instead choosing to play about.
