Something was up with Cass and Annabeth. I knew it as soon as Annabeth pulled her aside, but I decided to just leave them to it. Being caught in the middle of two arguing teenage girls was not something I wanted to do today. Or ever.
We spent the next week looking for any signs of Bruce or any of the other missing persons. Still nothing came up and for some reason Alfred was set on still sending me and Cass to school. Cass was actually excited for it as her only other school expect had been for a mission. Bruce had let her stay enrolled for the rest of the school year and decided if she wanted to, she could go back in the fall.
"It's a little unfair you let Cass choose and force me to go" I grumbled every week until the first day was unfortunately upon us.
"Master Perseus it's time-"
"I know it's time to go" I grumbled shouldering my backpack
"It won't be that bad" Dick said as I dragged my feet to the front door
"Yes it will" I groaned "My attention span is five minutes"
"So was mine" Dick said
"Okay but I mean literally" I said. Being a Half-blood I had ADHD and Dyslexia which made school even worse than it already would've been.
"I know" Dick said "You'll be fine Percy"
"Just kill me now and put me out of my misery"
"You haven't even gotten to the school yet"
I shuffled my way, reluctantly out the door and slid into the SUV beside Cass. A rather excited looking Cass.
"Last time I saw you this excited was when we showed you popcorn" I grumbled
"Popcorn is still better than school" She said
"Agreed"
"But I am excited"
"Are you two ready?" Alfred asked as he got into the driver's seat
"Yes" Cass said
"No" I groanedLuckily the first day was always easy and passes pretty quick and finally it was lunch. I met with Cass and Annabeth and we took our food outside to a bench out there to talk.
"It's been two weeks" I said angrily "And still nothing, but apparently school is still important"
"We won't find them easily" Cass said
"But there's literally nothing" I said "How can eleven people go missing without a trace? Not to mention most of those people are trained to fight or magical."
I looked to Annabeth who was tapping away on the laptop Daedalus had gifted to her in the summer.
"Annabeth?"
"What?" She asked without looking up.
"Have you found anything?" I asked
She didn't answer and took a bite of her red apple.
"Annabeth?"
"Yeah" She finally looked up
"Have you found anything?"
Annabeth shook her head, her blonde curls bobbed with the motion and she turned back to her laptop. I sighed and frowned at it before peering over the top.
"What's that?" I asked looking at the building on the screen.
Annabeth slammed it shut before I could get a good look at it. "Just a building"
"Well I could see that but what is it?" I asked again
"Nothing" She hissed
I looked to Cass who shrugged in return.
"Alright" I said "Sorry"
Annabeth brushed he fingers through her hair and with a sigh said "No I'm sorry I've just been adding some stuff... improving stuff and I kinda want to wait 'till it's finished to show anyone."
"I get it" I nodded
Annabeth chewed her lip "Any news on Bruce?" She asked as if that wasn't what we had just been talking about
I laughed "No. You need to pay more attention Wise Girl"
She rolled her eyes and threw her apple core at me. It pelted my shoulder and fell to the ground.
I was about to throw it back when a voice cut me off.
"Percy, Annabeth, Cass" Tim called My eyes flicked up, my arm still in the air ready to pelt his sister with the apple core.
He raised an eyebrow and I slowly lowered the apple core "Hey Tim"
"Hey guys" He said plopping down beside Annabeth. His dark hair was swept up actually neatly for once but his gray eyes were startling as ever, not quite as much as his sister's, but still startling.
"What were you guys doing?"
"Talking" Annabeth and I said at the same time Cass muttered something that sounded awfully close to 'flirting'
"About Bruce" I amended and shot a look at Cassandra.
"Oh" Tim's eyes darkened "Still nothing?"
I nodded
"Has Barbara tried the cameras?"
"Eleven times" Cass said
"What about airports?"
"All flights leaving" I said "For the past two weeks"
"Or-"
"Already checked busses, boats, and trains" Annabeth cut it "You were there for half of it"
"I know" Tim sighed "I just have nothing to do since my parents left on their trip. I'm trying to keep busy"
I wondered for a second how Athena felt that Tim still referenced Janet Drake as his mom and never really refered to Athena that way but then I decided that the goddess of wisdom was probably to busy to care.
"Wait Tim" Annabeth said, her eyes sharpening "Don't you have lunch detention?"
"For what?" I spluttered the water I had taken a swig of. Timothy Drake? In trouble?
"I just needed to get back at someone" Tim shrugged "They broke into my locker and sharpied 'Daddy's Money' inside so I hacked the security system to see who it was and got a little pay back"
"Yeah at you got a week of lunch detention" Annabeth reminded him
"There was a sub" He said "She let us out early"
Annabeth raised a skeptical eyebrow
"I'm not lying!" He said his voice cracking a little
She was still frowning but Annabeth sighed and let it go.
"So uh Tim" I said after a second of silence "You know how to hack the security systems?"
"Don't even think about is Seaweed Brain" Annabeth hissed
"About what?" I asked
"Not sure but something stupid" She said with a frown
"Always something stupid" Cass agreed
"Not always stupid" I argued All three of them looked at me "Fine" I grumbled before throwing the apple core at Annabeth who ducked under it "Always something stupid" I agreed
