9. Percy

Alfred dropped us off in Happy Harbor an hour later.
"Percy" Cass was shaking me "Wake up"
"Ugh let me be" I grumbled pulling my hood up over my head
"Get up" Cass pulled my hood back down and lightly hit my shoulder.
"Okay" I mumbled "Fine." I grumbled but I flipped the hood over my already messy hair. As soon as I stepped out of the car I got hit with the scent of the ocean and woke up immediately. My eyes adjusted and suddenly I could sea (see what I did there) further. Energy breathed into my limbs and I felt like I could run a marathon.
"Alright Cass let's go!" I said quickly
"Be careful you two" Alfred called from the car
"I always am" I offered
He looked at me then turned to Cass
"Cassandra please keep him out of trouble"
"Plan to" Cass gave him a thumbs up "Goodbye Alfred" As she said this last part she copied his british accent and he smiled a little before rolling up his window and starting back towards the highway.
"Cass you know you don't have to copy his accent right?" I said
"What?" She asked and she looked genuinely confused
I sighed "Nevermind. Let's see what this transport thing is."

"Why don't we just fly it there?" I asked bored
"Too easy" Dinah answered
"To steal? You're saying it's harder to steal something from a bus then to steal the same thing from a jet?" I asked
"He has a point" Conner said "It's probably harder to take down a jet."
"But it's also easier to pin point and shoot out of the sky" Dinah said
"And who could shoot a jet out of the sky?" I asked
"Plenty of people." Dinah said "And if any of them got this it would be a problem."
"What is this" Gar piped up
"A weapon from a retiring hero." Dinah answered
"What kind of weapon?" I asked
"Is it like a blowy uppy weapon or a sneaky weapon or-"
"No" Dinah said "Let's just get it to Nebraska. We'll have decoys going to other locations."
"Is there even anything in Nebraska?" I asked
"Robin" Dinah gave me a look
"I mean apparently this girl is there" Conner pointed out
"Conner." Dinah sighed "Batgirl keep them out of trouble."
Cass nodded absently but she wasn't looking at either of us. Instead she was looking towards the wall with a frown on her face. Both Cass and I (On orders from Bruce) kept our identities secret secret from the others either by wearing our uniforms or sunglasses. Or one time I wore a ski mask. Annabeth gave up on hiding her identity like that. She got a very long lecture from Bruce about that (It ended up being more of a yelling match)
"Dinah are you coming with us?" Conner asked
She shook her head "I'm staying here in case the National City team needs help. But I'll be right on the line with you."
"Sweet" I said "Who's driving?"
"Not you hopefully" Cass murmured suddenly interested in our conversation again.
I shot her a look "C'mon I'm not a bad driver"
"You wrecked a car-"
"Well I did have to call a few people" Dinah said "But-"
"Artemis!" Conner said and I flicked my head to where Conner was looking, a few feet to our left.
"Hey guys" The blonde haired girl grinned from the doorway.
"I thought Wally-"
"In bed at home." Artemis cut dinah off "And don't tell him I didn't wake him up, any of you. He will not let it go."
"Alright. Artemis I'll let you take it from here. Remember your mission is to get the package to the house quickly and quietly." Dinah finished "Good luck."

The first part of the drive was exactly as I expected it to be. Boring. We were riding in one of those white kidnapper vans. Artemis in the driver's seat, Cass claimed the front and the rest of us sat on blankets in the back as the seats had been removed classic kidnapper style. In the middle of the van was a wooden crate that I guessed held whatever weapon we were sending to Nebraska.
"What's inside it?" Gar asked
"I dunno" I said
"Open it" Conner suggested
"I'm not stupid" I shook my head "Batman would skin me alive if he found out. You open it!"
"I'm not opening it" Conner said "Gar?"
"None of you are opening it" Artemis said
"Then what is it?" I asked
"It's..."
"They didn't tell" Cass said and although her mask covered her face I knew she was frowning. "They didn't tell anyone."
"Huh they really trust us don't they" Conner said sitting back "This is boring."
"I agree" I said before leaning against the van window and closing my eyes.
