"I don't see a space ship anywhere." Courtney was the one the burst our bubble as we slowed in front of the park. Cass assured us this was where Bioship would be found, or at least within a mile of the place. Considering the ship was probably camouflaged the prospect of searching a mile wasn't a great one.
"She's probably hiding." Conner said
"She?!" Courtney asked
No one had enough energy to answer Courtney as Artemis threw the car into park and opened her door "We split up into twos. Search for a mile and call if we find Bioship." Artemis said "our comms should work in this small an area."
"One would hope." I sighed "come on Batgirl let's-"
"Woah Robin." Artemis held up a hand "We're splitting you two with BeastBoy and Stargirl. Superboy you'll be with me."
"Any reason why?" I asked
"Yes" Artemis answered "I need to talk to Conner."
I shrugged. I would've preferred it having Cass to watch my back but Gar wasn't a bad second option.
"Okay let's-" I turned back to find Cass nowhere to be seen. Garfield along with her. "Oh. That leaves you and me Star?"
Courtney wore a frown but it didn't seem like a malicious one, more of a "I've been awake for too long" kind of one. "Yeah let's go."We were on the north end of the park, it seemed to me a replica of Central Park but that's probably because I grew up in New York. I'd spent most the time answering Courtney's questions.
"And we're coming to find Annabeth?" She asked
"Yeah" I answered "and hopefully the rest of her team."
Courtney nodded "And why are you and Batgirl so set on finding Annabeth?"
I jerked my head to look at her "We're set on finding everyone."
"Well yeah" the blonde rolled her eyes "But seeing as Annabeth is the only one I've heard anyone talk about..."
"Annabeth's code name is Paladin." I answered "she operates mostly in Gotham. Oracle mentored Paladin back in her Batgirl days."
"So she's in the...Batfamily?" Courtney frowned as she coined the last word.
I laughed "Batfamily. Gods Batman would get a kick out of that."
"Well from what I've gathered" Courtney defended "Batman and his robins are awfully father son relationship, and Robin version one and Batgirl version one were a couple right? So you're all one big happy family."
I raised an eyebrow "I don't know if I'd describe it as 'big' or 'happy' all the time. But family is close enough."
"Exactly. So Batfamily." Courtney seemed satisfied with her finding.
"Okay Batfamily" I agreed "But don't tell the press that."
Courtney smiled "lips are-"
Courtney was cut off with a scream of static followed by a very faint Artemis "found....north west."
The second word cut out but I could only assume it as Bioship.
"On our way Artemis." I confirmed "c'mon Whitmore, let's introduce you to Bioship."
"Introduce?"Courtney and I were the last ones to make it to Bioship. When the red spaceship appeared in our view it was obvious our friends were already inside. The ship being uncamouflaged was the biggest give away. So I led Courtney right up the ramp into the cockpit. To my excitement and relief I could hear, clear as even Dinah's voice.
"We've tried to reach you, and Alpha." She was saying "but no dice. Oracle hasn't been online since you left."
"Wait?" I joined "Oracle hasn't been online period?"
Cass's eyes widened at the revelation and I recognized the anxious finger rolling on her leg immediately.
"I haven't heard anything from her. And her cell is going to voicemail."
"All night?" Cass asked
"Almost the past forty eight hours" Dinah answered
"What about Nightwing?" Artemis asked "She was supposed to be directing their mission"
"Canary." I said grabbing Cass's shoulder "you need to go check on her."
"Nightwing checked in hours ago. That's when I first started to worry about Oracle. He hadn't heard a thing." Dinah answered "I convinced Huntress to go to oracle tower. The last thing we want is Oracle down. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from her."
Cass shrugged away my hand and began pacing. I knew how she felt. Bruce, Annabeth, and now Barbara missing? She must be psyched out of her mind.
"Are Nightwing and Hood back?" I asked
Dinah winced "That's the thing. Nightwing made contact about fifteen hours ago. He'd lost track of Redhood and I haven't heard a thing since then."
"Oh gods" I groaned
"Im glad you five made it to Bioship." Dinah changed to subject away from our missing friends.
"Six" Courtney chimed in "uh hi. I'm Stargirl."
"Six" Dinah corrected "Black Canary. Batgirl, can you get into Oracle's system? You should be able to track the Bats from there."
"Batfamily?" Courtney offered
I could hear the stifled laugh from conner and the smile in Dinah's voice "Yes. The Batfamily from there."
"Canary" I said "You knew she had trackers on all of us?"
"Just your suits." Dinah offered
I sighed "I'm beginning to think it's more than just the suits."
"Depends on which one of us" Cass said softly
"And I'm guessing I'm one of the ones she keeps better tabs on?" I asked with a groan
The resounding silence was my answer.
